Good for you!
And I think you should be very very happy with this dealership and refer all your friends to that salesperson. I think they have stepped up for you.

Anybody know if the $2000 marketing support is exclusively for purchases and not for leases?

Purchases only; they have some excellent money factors and residuals on leases in March, particularly a .00025 MF for a 24-month lease for an EX35 Journey RWD. That is about .6%. But you don't get the $2K off.

is there a particular reason most people (on this forum anyways) seem to be leasing these? I was going to go put down cash for one, but if there is a particular reason not to I'd like to know.

One dealer quoted me 3% over invoice but that is crap. If I'm plunking down cash at the dealership I expect very little, if anything, over invoice.

Dude...IFS is offering $2000 dealer cash on purchases or non-IFS leases for March, so you should be able to get to $1500-2000 BELOW invoice if you're purchasing that bad boy...

I am looking to lease for a few reasons:
- I've always purchased, but no longer want to keep cars for 5-6+ years to make that the most cost effective approach. I want new cars every 2-3 years now...I'm getting older, kids are getting older, etc.
- IFS is offering a ridiculous money factor on a 24-month lease: .00025, which equals about .6%. Real cheap money, and the residual is 63% for 24 months. It's cheaper to lease a loaded EX for 24 months vs. an Acura RDX, and only marginally more $$ than a 36-month lease. They want to get people into the EX and get them on the road - they are selling slow right now.
- Concern about the "hatchback" or "station wagon" style. I like it, but let's say it just doesn't take off. Well, after two years, you're out of it, and can go in a different direction. If you purchase, and it just doesn't do it for you or the market, you're kind of stuck because the resale will suck.

Anyway, my two-cents worth. That 24-month lease deal is hard, almost impossible, for me to pass up.

just to be clear, I'm talking about walking in with a wad of cash and buying, not financing....does your comment still apply?

Absolutely...it's $2K dealer cash back on a purchase. Meaning, not a rebate to you, but cash to the dealer from Infiniti. But they will all pass most, if not all, of that right back to you. If you're walking in to buy it straight out, I would ask for $2K under invoice, including destination, and stand up to walk out if they don't agree. I'll bet they will.

Another thought inteller: Lease it for 24-months, and invest your cash in a money-market fund, CD's, whatever and use that for the monthly payments and buyout for the residual at lease-end. You'll come out way ahead in the end, plus you'll have the option to do something else after 24 months if you want.

I am new to this board but I have been following the leasing discussion on the EX. You speak of a current offering with a 24 month lease but in San Diego County I see nothing but a 39 month lease with a large cap reduction required to give you a payment of $429. Please give me some education.

That is simply the dealer's advertised offer. Infiniti Financial Services has residuals and money factors for various lengths, with the very best offer right now for 24-months. You need to pick a vehicle, negotiate the selling the price on it, then pick you IFS leasing option and plug in the numbers.
