tangofan:

I live in FL - I am curious, what dealer gave you this price in Orlando? Can you breakdown the deal for me and give me the sales person's name for a reference?

Thanks!

This EX 35 had prem, nav & wood. This is taken out of an e mail I received. Other quotes for EX's were right at 3200 under invoice.I e mailed the internet dept & received this and other quotes with no hassle at all.

It has a MSRP of $40,825.
You mentioned in your inquiry that you were seeking our best price and I am fully prepared to give it to you. We offer special pricing to our Internet Guests in an attempt to make your decision a very simple and easy one should you elect to move forward with this EX35.
Your special Internet price (Retail Only) is $33,992 + Tax, Tag ($124 to Transfer, $224 for a New Tag, $6.50 Florida Fees and our $499 Dealer Administration Fee.
A savings of $6,833 off the MSRP just for contacting the Orlando Infiniti

I can't give you the salesmans name because of Edmunds policy but it is Orlando Infiniti. HTH Tango

The deal sounds fine except for the "dealer administration fee" of $499, as that is not anything you should be charged for, it is a way for them to get extra money out of you. I would ask about it and refuse to pay it. The internet deal I was offered was $7,865 off sticker. The deal I ended up with was $7,672.50 off sticker. I wasn't charged any admin/dealer fee.

Yes ,the California Infiniti dealer I spoke with was willing to not charge the dealer fee. They were the only dealer I know who would drop it to sell the vehicle. It would have run me 900 to have it shipped so I had to factor that in.

Down in Florida, they will not budge. Orlando's fee is less than most as the fees I ran into are 599, 699 & 799. I was able to get a bit over 7,000 off MSRP locally but I did have to pay a dealer fee.
You have gotten the best price I have seen on the EX.

Just received this email from a dealer in southern california: "Base" Journey EX still has "everything", including leather, suroof, 6cd- changer, bluetooth, powers eats, etc. No Nav though. Retails for $35,875. Invoice - $33,026 Can be yours for $32,098.93 Out The Door!

What do you think?

Well, Journey and Base are 2 different vehicles. But since you put Base in quotes, I guess you knew that.

But I'm confused on the prices. Retail should be $35,450, according to Edmunds, BEFORE destination. Total sticker is $36,315. Invoice is $33,462.

There is a whopping $4k dealer cash on the vehicle. Do you currently own an Infiniti? If so, that's another $1k. Do you lease an infiniti? That's another $500.

Even if we assume no to the above questions, the dealer cash should bring you down to a $29,500 selling price. I have NO idea what taxes and fees are in Cali, so you'll have to help me out here. In NJ, I'd be looking at ~$2600 in taxes and fees, which would bring me right to that OTD price you were quoted. But, I do own an Infiniti, so I'd be looking to get another $1k off.

Seems like this might be a RWD Journey with a cargo protector only. No other options. I would try for at least 7,000.00 off MSRP due to all the dealer cash available on this. Metro Infiniti was offering over 7,000 off MSRP with no dealer fee.

Offering to who?
Like I said, if you are eligible for the loyalty rebate, this is possible. Otherwise, I'm not so sure. How much holdback are in these? I'm not sure they have $1k holdback to play with. In which case, $7k off without the loyalty rebate would be a loss to the dealer.

I had sent out emails to all local dealers in Southern California inquiring about the EX, and Metro sent me an offer that was sent to all people who had inquired about the EX via email - I asked. It said that for the month of May they were offering that rebate, $7685 off MSRP. When I went in it became clear they were trying to move out the old stock, as they offered me two cars I did not ask for, and said the one they told me that they had, the one I wanted, had "just" been sold. But I knew of one that I wanted that another dealer said he could get for me, but he wouldn't go with my offer, so I told Metro, and they found it on the computer, then made a deal with me and sent for it - it was out of town in another county five hours away. The price was $35,668 w/o tax. When I got home after closing the deal I worked on my calculator and found they'd kept the holdback, $520. I called the guy's boss and he looked into the email offer I'd received, and gave me back the amount that covered the original offer of $7685 off MSRP: $327.75, so the price was $35,340. I was happy with the deal which turned out to be $ 7,685 off my sticker of $43,025. The Infiniti web site prices my car at $43,625. All I can say today is I love my car!! It's the best car I've ever had!

Yes, well, of course, a more expensive car can offer a bigger discount because there is a bigger difference between invoice and MSRP. I don't think $7685 would be possible on the base model unless the dealer is willing to pay someone to take the car off their hands (or the other rebates apply).
