Has any one heard what the dealer incentives are for May yet? It looks like some folks were getting very nice discounts at the end of April. Are the dealers starting to negoiate more?

AIM for 1500-2000 under invoice. Letting them walk with $2K+ is pretty generous unless you don't really care.

Replying to: jmess (May 05, 2008 5:53 pm) the other thing is if you are looking for a car with very sepcific options (like I am) you limit yourself. For a car rotting on the lot you might be able to escape with $2k under invoice....but a lot of those cars are extremely undesireable from what I've seen. After you've sat in a car with Luxe Elite leather you won't want a Luxe Style car. |

I have done an exhaustive search here in So Cal for my dream car. The best offer I have gotten so far is from a fleet mgr. at an Infiniti dealership. I asked for a EX35 RWD, Scarlet Silver/Wheat w/ Prem. Tech. Nav. Wood Trim, Rails, Splash Guards, Cargo Protector. Originally I wanted an AWD, but realized that most AWD EX35s come with a Luxe pkg. and don't want that as I found out that the 18" tires cannot be rotated except front w/ front, etc. and cost at least 1k to replace. They make the car sit one inch lower, also. I drove my friend's new EX35 w/ 18" wheels and found the ride stiff going over the bumps. He had two AWD that came in other states, but one was with LE, the other w/ LS, and both had transport fees. He said that when they had the dealer education seminar they had them drive the RWD & AWD on sheets of plastic that were wet with dish soap on it. He said he liked the handling of the RWD better. He offered to get one of the two out of state AWDs, but said I would probably like the RWD just as well. He has one on the lot with everything I want, but also with cross bars and cargo organizer, both of which I do not want. The out of state cars are priced as: LEP: 41,750 (sale)/43,816 (out the door)+ 400 trans. LSP: 41,405/43,444 + 700 trans. I am a cash buyer. The deal I am being offered for the RWD he has on the lot is this: 43,185 reduced to 37,300, plus with TT&L, total out the door is 40,761. He took off the two thousand that is offered for purchases only through the end of June. I find that much better than Auto Club or Costco deals. He said that the new cars arriving are priced higher than others that arrived in April, or previous months. The ones arriving in May are higher by several hundred dollars. I'm going to try to get him to take off the cross bars and remove the cargo organizer and take that off the price. Any suggestions? I will go test drive the car this Saturday. Thanks for all of your posts - they have helped me be a more informed buyer!

I think you mean to say the 18" tires are directional and left side tires can't be rotated with right side tires. You can buy the stock Dunlop Sp 7000 18" tires online at the tirerack for $149 each. So you would pay about $200 more to replace them over the 17". The 18" tires actually have about a 4/10th of an inch taller/larger outside diameter so the 18" shod EX should sit slightly higher than the 17'' shod vehicle. If the price is close to invoice minus the $2000 incentive then you are where you would want to be.

Replying to: jmess (May 08, 2008 9:37 pm) Ground clearance 6.0 " 6.0 " 5.4 " 5.4 " Curb 3,752 lbs. 3,790 lbs. 3,915 lbs. 3,953 lbs. Gross weight 4,700 lbs. 4,866 lbs. 4,863 lbs. 5,029 lbs. I realize it goes against logic, but perhaps because the tire rim on the 18"s are so narrow, but thanks for the info on the tire prices.
