I’m looking for a used 2005 or a 2006 Toyota Highlander 2.4 – 4 Cylinder AWD. Anyone had any major issues with these models? Anything I should particularly pay attention when test driving these vehicle?

Appreciate your tips.

No tips, just feedback: I bought a 2005 Highlander in Sept 2007, 2.4L, 4cylinder with 30k miles on it. I thoroughly enjoy driving altho it takes getting used to if all you've ever driven are small cars ie. Corollas. The only problem I have with this, which I didn't check in September when it was still warm, is the temperature knob. It's freezing in the Midwest and you have to jiggle it to keep the temperature where you want it. Otherwise, it blows cold air.

I have an 05 Highlander that I really like. I have to buy a new vehicle by the end of the year because of my car plan through work. It has been a great car, and if it had all the doo-dads I want on my next car, I would probably just keep it and take less money from the auto allowance.

So, I can't say there are hints. It is a very solid and reliable car. The only thing is side airbags were an option for these years, so don't assume they will be there.

This could be your tire pressure monitoring system. Perhaps it wasn't reset after tire service. To be sure check your owner's manual.

Returning Leased Toyota In Imperfect Condition by goodchoices

I have a 2006 Toyota Highlander, Limited and want to know how strict company is with regards to wear and tear on the vehicle. All 4 tires are bald but I have only 4 weeks before residual is paid off and need to turn in. The requirement they say is 2/32nds for the tread which mine is far below - they're bald)

So I am wondering if anyone knows if they do charge you for "wear and tear" beyond the ordinary, such as old tires or what your experience has been at turn in time.

I am not suggesting that this happened in your case but the vast majority of sudden acceleration cases are due to the driver mistakenly stepping on the gas rather than the brake pedal. Of course, we would welcome comments from anyone who has experienced this in their Highlander.
