I think there's a little luck involved too...I knew a guy who had a slant 6 Chrysler that was a lemon and there are thousands of internet pages which will tell you that they're bulletproof and don't even need much oil to keep running. I recently read about a guy who had 500,000 miles on his Chevy pickup, original motor and trans...go figure Look at a bunch of them, decide which you'd buy based upon condition and affordability and have your mechanic check it out before you buy. There are plenty of good deals on good minivans out there made by GM and all the rest too. Buyers are in the driver's seat (so to speak) because the car market is currently so slow so you have some leverage with price right now... Good Luck, John

I've either traded them in or sold them outright, but every one of them was still fully operational and drivable when I sold them. It's already been said that every single vehicle will have it's own individual set of problems. There is no getting around that. But through all the years I've been driving and all the vehicles I've owned, I've found that there's one unwavering fact of life. You will only get out of a vehicle exactly what you put into it. If you take care of it, meaning regular oil changes, lubes, regular maintenance, etc., it will take care of you. But if you run it for all it's worth, like you don't care about it and you want to break it, you will get your wish. |

| hello me and my family recently found a 2002 Chevy venture with 88,000 miles that we all really liked. after we got back i looked up info on the car and found all the stuff about the gaskets and other problems. so i was wondering that if you put good quality gaskets in and avoid that Dex cool stuff if that would solve the whole gasket thing. because it was a really nice van that we would love to own. also how often do these gaskets go out i can't seem to find any consistency some people make it sound like its almost every month. | |

| According to our service mgr. at the Chevy dealer we use, 2002 was the year the improved gaskets started. He said they still see the problem even with the new gaskets, but at a much less rate. I think your still suppose to use the dexcool stuff though. I think the trick is to change it sooner then they say. If your worried it about it see if you can take it to a Chevy dealer and have them look at it, also they can run the vin number to see if it's been already done in the past. | |
