hello me and my family recently found a 2002 Chevy venture with 88,000 miles that we all really liked. after we got back i looked up info on the car and found all the stuff about the gaskets and other problems. so i was wondering that if you put good quality gaskets in and avoid that Dex cool stuff if that would solve the whole gasket thing. because it was a really nice van that we would love to own. also how often do these gaskets go out i can't seem to find any consistency some people make it sound like its almost every month.

According to our service mgr. at the Chevy dealer we use, 2002 was the year the improved gaskets started. He said they still see the problem even with the new gaskets, but at a much less rate. I think your still suppose to use the dexcool stuff though. I think the trick is to change it sooner then they say. If your worried it about it see if you can take it to a Chevy dealer and have them look at it, also they can run the vin number to see if it's been already done in the past.
