Questionable Fit & Finish by glogsdon

I have had my CX-7 for a week now. Very enjoyable to drive. But, already problems. I went through an automatic carwash yesterday, too cold to wash in my driveway. Once the high pressure spray started, water would leak in around the top front of the passenger door. Also seemed to result in a few drops on the floor below the top of the tailgate door. I received a couple drops on the back of my head to boot. Absolutely unbelieveable. I haven't had a vehicle leak like that since the 60's. Also, I have four very small chips in the paint in the front area already. The windshield pillar also has a small chip. The color is the Liquid Platinum Metallic. I will be going in to the dealer within the next couple of weeks for it's 1000 mile checkup. It will be interesting to see what they have to say about my problems. Anyone else have similar problems?

Leakage is definately a warranty issue, so be relentless in getting that resolved.

As for the chips - most likely just normal wear and tear. Rocks, pebbles and other debris get picked up by other vehicles and thrown back at you. Not much you can do about that, especially if you live and commute in an urban area. You can try a car bra, but they're not without their disadvantages, as well. Another option is to try Scotchgard™ Paint Protection Film from 3M. It's a tough film that's applied to your car and helps protect against chips. But it really needs to be applied as soon as you get a new car, for max protection. I should've done that long ago, but I didn't discover it, until recently. I've got plenty of pits to attest to that.

Go to http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3M/en_US/Scotchgard-PPF/Home/ for more info.

Vince.
