And yes ('m a regular viewer here), I'm well aware of the other lists, however that was not what I meant. I was referring to your subject line, that this is Inside Line's (Editor's) list. I really appreciate Edmunds and all that the editors and the fine work everyone else does. I think Edmunds is a company that provides services that really help consumers, and found a way to provide their services without cost to consumers, and that's a admirable and worthy goal. However, I still think that a dose of reality could be included to this list (in the spirit of improvement), perhaps by broadening the parameters of the list, to include more of the more affordable but exceptional vehicles that are able to meet everyday workhorse needs in addition to the more extravagant models many folks (editors in this case) all aspire to own. Even some enthusiasts (who pay for their own costs) need to consider good, affordable and reliable vehicles they want to drive everyday (perhaps when the Lambo is in the shop), or would recommend to friends when costs are considered. For the life of me I can't understand how people could be upset over other peoples opinions...guess thats why they are called OPINIONS...in this case it's the EDITORS...and their opinions...some of you think that they should choose the same auto's from the same pool of autos thats available to everyone...well THEY DID!!! So what if most people can't afford all of them...that's not the point...the point is simply to inform us of what vehicles they would choose to drive on a regular basis, for whatever reasons...some of us are pissed that more American(or pseudo American) vehicles werent chosen, or less expensive ones ( a honda expensive??What??) these vehicles were picked by people that love the ART of the AUTOMOBILE, and the experience one has while behind the wheel of one...and not many of us can say that we have driven 5+ vehicles a week for nearly 45 weeks...I bet if you did some would stick out in your minds more than others...IMHO Replies to this message: roadburner (Jan 12, 2008 8:05 pm) la4mead (Jan 15, 2008 11:33 am)

Roadrburner's point about Inside Lines pics, price be damned was hitting the nail on the head. However, this does not mean a call for cars that are "sterile and dull transportation appliances"! That wouldn't help anyone or make any sense. Again, it's about balanced information the readers could benefit most from. It's very helpful to hear additional information about both exceptional and entertaining cars that are also affordable (like the "3"), as well as those that set even higher standards regardless of price. No one said that the editors shouldn't make their own choices for their own pics regardless of price. But why not add an additional question for the editors: What would you pick to buy with your own cash or recommend to your enthusiast brother/sister/spouse other?

la4mead, please stop now... This list isn't for consumers. It's not meant to help you buy your next Toyota Corolla. It's what they want. Period. And I'm sorry if there are two Audis that most people can't afford on that list, but since when are a Mazda, a Honda and a GMC considered expensive? That's 60% of the list right there. How can you put the Honda Odyssey on that list? My wifes Honda van has had more problems and trips to the service department than any other vehicle I have owned except my engine failure sludged Toyota Camry. The sliding door fell of its track onto my sons foot. The trans has been rebuilt. Rotors replaced twice. Dash rattles like gumball machine. Stalling and a host of other problems, not to mention sub par dealer service at three different dealerships. I'll never buy another Honda product. I can't believe you would put them on a top ten list. Maybe a bottom ten list of what to AVOID would be Better suited HONDA.
