There has been some discussion as to whether the fog lights on the XLS Outlander operate independently of the HID headlights. Does anyone know for sure how they work?

They are not foglights; they are daytime running lights. They are illuminated when the headlights are turned off. The HID headlights do an amazing job of cutting through rain, fog and snow (my wife with poor night vision has an '07 XLS).

Could Outlander owners inform me if the US models come with rear fog light/lamp mechanism? The Outlander sold in Europe and Asia all come with a rear fog light mechanism that can be activated by using the rear fog switch/knob attached to the steering wheel. This knob has the front fog icon/symbol and the rear fog icon/symbol (at least in the European/Asia Outlanders).

Thank you for the details.

Would you please inform me what do you do with the knob in order to light the lamp pointed at with the "fog light" white line?

Hi, I have a 2008 LS Outlander (Canada model - same as US I guess). I had the fog lights installed in front, so the dealer changed the switch knob next to the steering to put a new one with the front fog control. So I was wondering seme as you for the rear fog lights. So what i did is that i removed the rear light socket where the fog should be. There is the side light connector and wire but, the other hole where the rear fog light would be is sealed with a piece of plastic stick there. So i guess that if a want to light up the rear section of the fog ligts i have to check if the wires are at the back and do the job myself (install a new light ). I've also checked the fuse box, regarding the user manual, the fuse for the rear fog light is there (10Amps) but my question is; Are the cables run to the back of the truck?. I'll have to check this out some day when the weather will be more hot in Quebec cuz now, there is 20 cm of snow falling. EnjoY.

Switching Fog/Daytime Running Lights by pitt4

Has anyone tried to reverse this? I have an 07 XLS and would rather have the fog lights come one when the parking lights or head lights are turned on. The daytime running lights would be illuminated when the rest of the lights are off, which makes more sense.

Thanks

I've been in Mitsubishi Service in Warsaw/Poland/Eu, and we connected my 07 XLS Outlander to special service computer. There's is option to disable front or rear fog lights. But in my case, we enabled both in Poland we must drive 24h on lights ON (Xenon lights). I Think You should try to connect to service computer on Your Local Mitsubishi Dealer/Service.

Hi lukaszkur!

Could you please describe your approach to a Mitsubishi dealership in Poland to activate the rear fog light in your 2007Outlander XLS?

What did you do? What did the technician do in Poland with his/her laptop instrument to read in the laptop screen the menu that allowed the technician to re-set or reprogram the On-Board-Computer (OBC) of the Outlander.

It was an easy task? Did you have to buy a new fog bulb? Did the technician have to manipulate some wires or just did he/she work with his/her laptop?

In the USA people is a bit reluctant to have a rear fog light and many do not know what a rear fog light is. However I like to have a rear fog light and I would like you explain the steps you did to get the rear fog light in your Outlander activated. People in this country think that the rear fog light is a big problem.
