After putting on new rear drums on my 1995 Cabrio, the pedal almost went to the floor before the brakes applied/ How do you adjust the rear brakes??

#2 of 7 ABS and Brake Warning Light Staying On by gchambe5

Mar 19, 2008 (7:31 pm)

The ABS and Brake Warning Light on my dash remain lit. I changed the brakes and rotor on the front wheels because they needed it but the lights remain lit. How do I find out if it is the rear wheels, one of the sensors, the master cylinder or the ABS system. Does anyone have an idea.

The ABS light is a known issue for these cars, try a Google search. As for the cruise control, having a VW mechanic reset your car's computer should do the trick. My cruise was not working at all and a reset fixed it.

What do you mean ABS is a known issue for these cars. I am suing a dealership in NJ for an ABS problem I go to court tomorrow. Any insight or advice would be greatly appreciated. My ABS light kept going on. They claimed when the light was on that my ABS brakes were not working--which scared the heck out of me. So I authorized a installation of a new right rear ABS sensor. However, the light is still on. And they can't figure out the problem. Now my car is completely dead. While driving 40 miles an hour the car completely shut down while in motion. Thank God I wasn't on a major highway!

#6 of 7 Windows went down and will not go up by mwilson5

I have a 2000 cabrio convertible. and was having a problem unlocking the door. Then all 4 windows rolled down and now will not roll up. It dose not matter if the car is running or not with the key on. When I activate the switches in the up position I hear nothing but when I activate the down I do hear the motors try to activate then stop.

#7 of 7 98 VW Cabrio Brake Problem by oyas

I have a 98 Volkswagen Cabrio and the brakes seem to be failing. Whenever the brake pedal is pressed it feels extremely stiff and the car has a lot less braking power. Its impossible right now to apply abrupt braking to come to an immediate stop. I asked some people at firestone about it and they said that it sounded as if my Brake Booster is failing on me. I'm just wanting to see if anyone can give me confirmation on whether or not this sounds like the problem or more insight to what else it could be.
