Any experience with the stick in the new design? by bhill2

I became interested in the redesigned CTS, great looks and great reviews. I am intrigued, however, with the idea of getting a manual tranny. I much prefer them and Cadillac offers one (I'm not thinking about the CTS-V). What little I've been able to find on the manual indicates that it is not a great box, but isn't a disaster either. Does anyone have experience that they would like to share?

not many manuals out there for the CTS.....I would say 99% of us went with the auto which comes with a sport mode shifter.......the manual trans would be a special order most likely......the problem is....you will exclude many of the option packages by sticking with a manual...as they are only offered in combination with a auto trans.....that simply leaves you with a basic bone stock CTS...

I'm in the market to purchase a 2009 CTS 3.6 (2) wheel drive with the PDP Pkg. Could you please provide me with the name and telephone number of the dealer that you purchased yours from.

Thanks.

Manual Transmission by merckx

I LIKE the idea of a bare-bones CTS.....For my taste, the standard car comes with plenty. I've read so much bad press about the shift action, though, that I've forgotton about a manual shift.....

I do know they would be very, very rare.....But I still think it might be fun.

Yeah, I've heard that the shift action on the manual CTS isn't great, but my daily driver is a C5 Corvette which isn't known for its great shift action either. If the CTS even came up to the Corvette standards I would be satisfied, but I don't know if it does.

I've got an 09 CTS DI w/AWD and 2300 miles on it. It's currently at the dealer for the third time and I'm starting to regret the purchase. Problems include false warnings about low tire pressure, airbag and onstar module recalls, a drivers door that periodically won't unlock, grinding noises from the driver's window and a major flutter in the engine idle that actually rocks the car. So far I get the standard dealer reply "the technician wasn't able to duplicate the problem". Anyone one else familiar with or experiencing similar issues?

sorry to hear about the problems....didnt think the onstar module recall effected late production 09 MY CTSs only the early ones.....09 non-DI RWD fully loaded heer with 9400 miles, purchased late Sept, otherwise....no problems at all other than a squealing rear brake...which was fixed per the TSB by the dealership.....sounds like the ECM might need to be reflashed....that might take care of the idle issue and the door lock....

Thanks for the empathy PAO. Glad that your CTS has been doing well. I'm hoping that these issues will be worked out, and that gas mileage will inch up a bit, as I really do like the car overall.
