I use a mityvac to remove oil thru the dipstick on my other vehicles. Any have experience with using this technique on a 4 cyl (2.2 or 2.4L) Vue? Mine is 2008.

Well, I can now answer my own question. First change, to Mobil 1 at 3150 miles, went very well using the Mityvac and the Lislie oil filter wrench. Unlike my BMW and Mercedes, which also use cart oil filters, the Purolator filter did not come with a new o-ring for the filter housing. How often do you DYIs with a 2.2 or 2.4L change this O-ring?

I check it anytime I take it off and plan to replace it when I see any cracks or deformation. As long as it looks OK, it probably is OK. Next time I take it off, I'm going to measure it so I can figure out what standard size it is so I know what to replace it with. I'm sure that a $ 2.00 buna-n o-ring will be $ 10.00 at the dealer...
