I am having the dealer install the satellite radio for me, as well as the ipod interface, once it comes in. Did they do this for you? Or are you talking about your own sirius that sits on top of the dashboard?

I assume it's the first option in which case can you tell me more about your problems so I can make sure I don't have these problems and see if they have a solution that I can tell you?

The radio is satillite ready so I had to buy this module that installs inside the dash.
Its a kit only available from the dealer. This connects to the existing radio/cd changer. Its not the type you sit on the dash though That would cost much less.
so Th kit I bought from the dealer also came with its own antenna that sticks to the upper right corner of the windsheild I was hoping since the radio is satillite ready the antenna that came on the car could be used instead. If that is the case I might be able to install the unit myself and not have to spend 350.00 to the dealer to install it.
Thanks for your help.

The "satellite ready" is somewhat misleading. It's true that you don't need a separate display unit, but you can't just plug in the $35 receiver availble at Circuit City, you have to use the $300 Subaru version that includes some sort of intermediate device (GM does something similar).

It's such a scam.

Either way a separate antenae is required.

Other Dealer Only stuff by bankerdanny

While we are discussing the fact that only the dealer can install the Sirius radio, I was also annoyed to find out that the rear wiper is an odd size that my local Auto Zone doesn't carry. The only place I could get one was at the dealer.

It is only an $11 part, but that's still double the cost of a blade at the parts store.

Boy, I should have bought mine in Canada--my ideal combo would have been red with grey and I would have loved HID's. Strange marketing on both accounts--why would the color offerings differ, and why wouldn't they think US buyers would want HID's?

I wouldn't get too excited about this yet--here's a quote from the Subaru website regarding the iPod interface:

"Now also available for 2009 Forester 2.5X and 2.5X Premium Package models without satellite radio."

They must plug into the same hole or something.

Correct, and it also works for MP3s and WMAs. I tried it.

Sadly, I have to report that knowing the current song is "Hannah Montana" doesn't make the song sound any better.

Order Update by ateixeira

So I got my VON, called SoA, and they gave me my VIN.

The car is built and actually being loaded on the ship, where it will soon make its way to the port in ... Deleware (I think?) for the east coast. ETA is June 2nd.

Add a few days for processing, then the port-installed options (we had lots of those - cargo nets, mud flaps, cargo cover, cargo liner, bumper guard, etc) have to be put on. Then it gets trucked down to Fitzgerald Subaru.

So I'm hoping for a mid-June delivery.

I have to say the folks at Customer Service have been great so far.

Well the weather should be pretty warm mid June. Ice cold Kegger sounds real good at the Ax Man Pad.

I did not see any protective film on the radio faceplate, however , I will check more closely in the morning. I would love it if that is the issue, but I do not think so,I will also question the service department when I bring it in on Wed. for the XM installation. Thanks
