Forester scores well for its class, with huge improvements for the turbo compared to years past. http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/findacar.htm Annual fuel costs for the turbo are down from $2,955 to $2,742. EPA combined went up from 20 to 21 mpg. Barrels of oil used dropped from 17.1 to 16.3, and CO2 emissions dropped from 9.2 tons to 8.7 tons. ALL of those numbers beat a certain V6 people came over here to brag about. Even fuel cost. Even after accounting for the extra cost of premium octane. Pretty amazing considering 0-60 times are still under 7 seconds, so performance was not sacrificed. The new turbo is simply more efficient and cleaner. The base engine scores are unchanged, but they were already good: 22mpg EPA combined, $2,464 annual fuel cost, 15.6 barrels of oil per year, and 8.3 tons of CO2. |

My interior looks like the car is 5 years/100,000 miles old instead of 15 mos/15,000 miles. And that is with the rubber mats in the winter. I was afraid of that when I bought the car. I really wanted a grey interior, but the geniuses at Subaru disn't offer it then.

Replying to: ateixeira (May 21, 2008 6:24 am) I got 25 mpg (with a high of 26) on my trip driving a pretty consistent 70-75 on the highway with the two of us in the car, 10 days of luggage, and a bicycle on a hitch mounted rack in the back. I was definitely pleased with that aspect of the performance. The seats also were very comfortable for 6-7 hour driving days. |

I have had my 09 for several weeks now. I have applied static cling window tint to the sunroof as it is not tinted enough and lets too much sun in. I am not happy with several things thus far. One is the radio display. On my upgraded radio with subwoofer, the display screen seems to be a bit clouded. It just does not seem clear. I have looked at other several radios and observed the same. Is this a defect or design flaw? Does anyone else have this unclear screen? Thanks for any comments.

Replying to: birdboy (May 21, 2008 5:35 pm) Does it have a protective plastic film that's suppose to be removed?

Replying to: birdboy (May 21, 2008 5:35 pm) While we're on the subject of the audio system, the manual implies that, if you push the "Text" button in the upper right, the system will display the album/track/artist titles for CD's, but all I get in the display is "No Title". It's not the CD, because I've tried several of them. Has anybody seen their system display CD information? |
