just looked in my old car book, and it looks like the base MSRP for a '75 Dart Swinger hardtop was $3518. A base LeMans 2-door was $3590. So I guess that explains why my Mom's LeMans and grandparents' Dart were so close in price. My book also lists the cheapest '74 Nova at $2811 for the 6-cyl coupe. It's amazing how bad inflation was back then. In '73, the same Nova was only $2377! I'm still surprised that my '69 Dart GT managed to MSRP for around $3600. The base price was $2672. But I guess just between a/c and the automatic transmission, that was probably good for about $600-650. It also had a vinyl roof, 3-speed electric wipers, a tinted windshield, AM radio, the 225 slant six (versus standard 170), and power steering, all of which were optional. Heck, I think even 14" rims might have been optional! |
