I have a 2003 pathfinder and it so far with 77 K on it runs great, but I dont like what I read abouth the problems they have had,Ill run it to the ground ,its paid for , how ever in the near future when I get another car or truck or suv it wont be a Nissan ,I wonder how many owners of any nissan that has a VQ35 engine has any idea of what they are in for money wise to fix a borken timing chain because the tensioners go bad at about 70K
$2,200-$3,000 a fix allnew parts.

I am trying to get mine repaired and I believe the shop is trying to screw me over b/c my total cost is coming up to $6000. By chance, do you have your service repair list so that I can compare mine to there's to make sure they are not trying to milk more out of me that is required? If so, you can email it to me at goddessofgmail.com. My truck is stuck at the shop now b/c they already started taking it apart and I need to know before they continue with repairs. AHHH!

The invoice I have for radiator/trans shows only the $450 I paid for labor (my agreement with Nissan, which I eventually got back when Nissan issued a warranty extension). The repair for both radiator and trans normally would cost $5,000-$7,000. You have to be careful that they use a NEW TRANS (not rebuilt), all new parts, hoses, etc. After I got it back, my trans guy, reversed the trans cooler hoses so it wouldn't happen again. He such a good guy, he didn't even charge me. If you live in northern NJ, e-mail me at garygmanband.com and I'll give you his name. They do all types of repairs and are totally honest.
When another problem emerged last month and I contacted Nissan Corp., the rep said,"we helped you with one problem,. That's it. So I gave her some choice words, got off the phone, went car shopping and traded The Pathfinder in for a Hyundai Santa Fe LTD. Screw Nissan. Never again. If you're smart and your Pathfinder is Driveable, trade the damn thing in and forget about it. My buddy who works in the auto industry said that Nissan has the worst customer relations reputation. Why kick a dead horse?

I heard back from Nissan after sending 3 letters go various VP's....sort of. The cowardly VP's Martin and Thacker farmed my letter to an admin and had her call me. They apparently lack honor and a set of balls between them to make a call themselves. No wonder they work for Nissan because they lack class and decency.
Admin du journey gave me the same line of crap that they are unwilling to fix this issue as I am over the warranty.
As I wrote my letter to Nissan I calculated that i have paid almost 45% of the amount I paid for this Pathifinder in repair bills. Never in my life owning car have I had to replace drive shafts or a transmission especially on a car under 90k miles. I cannot believe that Nissan finds this acceptable in it's products.
Nissan is pathetic and cowardly and this is especially true of it's senior management who are worthless. Just like my 2005 Pathfinder.

You got that right! I have spent the last two months on the phone with customer service reps, managers, etc.
I grew up with Nissans. I have owned four of them. My brother has owned four of them. When I mentioned this to Nissan over the phone the regional manager asked for VIN numbers of the vehicles. (as if i was lying) I thought that was odd but gave them the information. Then they want a copy of the bill to replace the transmission and radiator. I provided this as well. I started thinking maybe they are taking this seriously.... Stupid me!
After all of that they are still refusing to pay. Why?????????? Why ask for all of that information? I guess they were just messing with me?
I am so damn mad at this wothless company. I am going to unload this piece of crap as soon as possible and I am never buying another Nissan again. I doubt anyone I know will either.
I used to go on and on about how great Nissan was. I bought the Tshirts and the stupid junk with the logo on it. Anyone that knows me knows how much i loved that company. I feel stupid now.
I love the quote that someone else left on this blog..."I wish Nissan would stand behind their vehicles... because I would back up and run them over."

With the low % financing,I'd trade the piece of crap in asap. After driving my Hyundai Santa Fe LTD for two weeks, it beats the crap out of the Pathfinder. And, I loaded my speakers,PA,Hardware,Guitars etc and have the same space Plus compared to the Pathfinder. Since the rear seats fold down easily in two sections, it leaves a floor channel between the back of the front seats and the rear seats. I put my mic stands and other hardware there. Excellent.
Also there is a large storage compartment under the floor mat in the rear. Put in a tool case, Campbell Hausfeld tire inflator (which is terrific: 12 volt Tire Inflator with Safety LightItem Number: RP320000AV) Pancho etc.
Good luck. Don't let the B-----ds get to you anymore. Get even.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that you're sending the message to everyone on twitter! I'm now into well over $1,200for a rental car while waiting for my 05 Pathfinder to be repaired. I'm told the parts are on "national back order" and there is no date for delivery...I should be prepared to wait at least another 2 months...likely longer. At $1,200 a month for a rental and $5,000+ for repairs, is it worth it? I've essentially got a huge paperweight that I should be able to trade in for $13,000+.
I've heard that Nissan went with a new vendor in 05 and that the parts are "defective" yet they WON'T stand behind their product. I've had 3 Nissans in the past 10 years, bought one for my mom and took 8 or 9 friends to buy one, most recently last month. NEVER again!
I'm now looking for a cheap used car to get back and forth until I get my POS back so I can trade both for another make!!!

My transmission that was expected July 1 is now expected Mid August!!!!! So this is 4 more weeks of rental cars. Screw Nissan it is time to go back to Honda.
