All I can say is, give them hell. I was one of the lucky ones that when my transmission went out I only had 69,000 miles on my 2007 Pathfinder and they did fix it. I will NEVER buy another Nissan after the way they have handled this problem. They have showed me that their customers mean nothing to them. No matter how long it takes it to get thru court they should have to pay for this problem, not their customers that paid $30,000 to $40,000 for a vehicle that was suppose to be dependable much longer than 80,000 miles. This should have been a recall.

I had the same issue with my 2007 last month. The heater and transmission are definately related. The heater will eventually completely stop working. When I took mine in they found that the radiator had leaked into the transmission which destroyed the transmission. Transmission fluid had gotten into the radiator and distroyed the water pump, heater core and the thermostat. I had 69,000 miles on mine, but thank God they had extended the warrenty to 80,000 miles from any issue that was caused by the radiator malfunction. They replaced the radiator, transmission, water pump, heater core and thermostat all under warrenty. They gave me a loaner for the entire time.

I am currently a complainant for the state of Pennsylvania in a lawsuit against Nissan for the radiator/transmission problem. There are complainants listed on the petition from a number of states in this class action suit. It was filed in January 2011. The attorney is from the state of New York. Below is his information. Please contact him to see if you can be added to the class action. This site does not allow me to add the phone number. Please go to the website to get the phone contact information and contact Mr. Graifman to see if you can be added to the website.

My wife and I are so glad I stumbled upon this after doing so much in depth research. About a month ago we noticed the heater was not working properly and realized there was no coolant in the radiator, so I filled it up and things seemed to be fine until about 10 days ago. That's when my wife began to notice the tranny slipping, bucking, and lurching when the gear selector was used.
This morning, after reading all of this yesterday, I popped the radiator cap, and sure enough it looked like someone had filled the radiator with strawberry milkshake. Being we had 76,170 miles on our 2007 Pathfinder, I immediately called our local dealer and he seemed to know exactly what the issue was by the way I described the symptoms.
I am happy to say that as of 2:15 this afternoon they called to inform me that the entire repair plus all recalls and upgrades were being covered by Nissan with not a penny out of my pocket. They also provided us with a loaner free of charge until the truck is repaired. I can't believe that had we waited another 2 months or so, this would have cost us more than we could have afforded.
I must note that we also have had the vehicle serviced regularly at this dealership since we purchased it from them three years ago and they are very familiar with us and the truck's maintenance record. Hard for them to blame themselves, I suppose, but they did the right thing for us.

I took mine in yesterday. Radiator and transmission shot........80480 and Nissan would not cover. Luckily I had purchased the 100k extended warranty. Only paying a $50 deductible. My first question to them was did they redesign the radiator. I was told they did. Another poor guy was in there and paying $5500 for the repair.

I had to purchase the warranty when we bought the vehicle. It cost $1100 at the time.
#690 of 1246 Another victim of the 2005 Pathfinder radiator/transmission fiasco
Apr 08, 2011 (6:49 am)
I am in the midst of repairs to my 2005 Pathfinder which has the radiator crack and bleed into the transmission. Unfortunately, despite it happening a few miles ago, I am now outside of the 80K mile window. I am hoping the tranny isn't dead. Fingers crossed.
#691 of 1246 Pathfinder Trans Defect
Apr 12, 2011 (4:39 pm)
Im going to take mine in on Friday, i had the Rumble issue last year and the dealer told me trans was probably bad but to try changing the transmission fluid, so i paid to have it changed and later found out about the radiator issues. So far i have not had a repeat of last years problem but i dont put many miles on however im sure its just a matter of time.
I want to take it in and have them replace the trans and radiator because im sure some damage was caused last year.
Not sure how to convince the dealer of the issues?
Does anyone know what they look for during diagnosis.
The transmission issue was some was intermittent last year and hard to replicate until i drove the Nissan guy around.
Feedback would be appreciated.
