2009 Nissan GT-R vs. 2008 Porsche 911 Turbo - Balance and body control of the GT-R are extraordinary through faster, bumpy bends that will have the 911 unsettled enough to make the driver lose confidence. I had a number of heart-in-mouth moments in the Turbo trying to keep up with the GT-R, even with the Porsche's suspension set to its harder Sport setting. (more)

With Mustangs beating Porsches, Cobalts beating Elises, and stock Corvettes beating Z06s. After years of really wierd results, I'm unlikely to believe any of their stuff again.

That is true, though its essentially deja vu of what they used to do. With the R32 development team, Nissan bought a Porsche 959 and paraded around the Nurburgring.

The NISMO GT-R, Nissan's crown jewel - they can't afford to take it to the 'Ring? Based on all 'Ring press releases in the past for the GT-R, the "budgetary constraints" reason seems disingenuous at best. I guess Nissan won't be able to afford to take the stock GT-R back out to prove Porsche wrong either. Replying to: lemmer (Nov 11, 2008 8:26 am) Wrong. They already have a GT-R and a V-spec at the 'Ring. The NISMO would have to be carted around the world. Makes very little sense when the V-spec is making its debut this month. Plus, the V-spec is (according to Mr. GT-R) 5-10% better than the NISMO. The NISMO's 3 package levels will all just fall somewhere below the V-spec time. NISMO package doesn't seem to make sense if it costs more than the V Spec and offers less performance. At least the paper magazines do the punch and run - screaming headlines declaring the latest flavor of the month the best car on earth, but then they calm down and start noticing chinks in the armor next time they do a real road test or comparison.
