2009 Nissan GT-R vs. 2008 Porsche 911 Turbo - Balance and body control of the GT-R are extraordinary through faster, bumpy bends that will have the 911 unsettled enough to make the driver lose confidence. I had a number of heart-in-mouth moments in the Turbo trying to keep up with the GT-R, even with the Porsche's suspension set to its harder Sport setting. (more)

The reason that this was such big news was because it was the first time that a Nissan had allegedly beaten the Porsche. Not the umpteenth time, but the first. So, I guess when you say sometimes Porsche is on top and sometimes Nissan is on top, that means ALL the times but once the Porsche has been on top. Right? Just trying to clarify. And that one time where Nissan was on top was hasn't been substantiated by Porsche engineers. Okay. Nice post.

That is how Porsche has made sure that you don't overheat the oil. Pretty smart huh? GT3 with PDK? I have heard of no such thing. Internet rumors? I have not seen any issues with the '09 PDK's coming back. It seems that perhaps one owner had a problem. Fair enough, but that in no way mirrors the GT-R problems. The owners were obviously NOT aware that launching repeatedly would void the warranty or else they wouldn't have done it. Uninformed salespeople selling to uninformed customers. |

The reason this was big news is it was the first time the car with a reputation for being faster than a 911 was hitting the US. The Skyline GT-R actually spent more time 'on top' in the 90's. When Nissan released the R32, Porsche had nothing in production that was 'Nissan fast'. When the R33 hit Europe, Porsche did not have an answer until the 996. As for Nissan having a 911 competitor in the past, I never got the memo on that one... Then again, maybe you guys do live in a parallel universe, because all us here in reality did get the memo. You seem to be ready to accept any internet rumor. Porsche's claim about the GT-R is what can't be substantiated. Every independent tester agrees its 'Porsche fast' or better. The GT-R 'laps' the Nurburgring at a variety of times in the hands of different drivers, but achieved a best time of 7:29. Okay. Nice posts. Not.

Porsche's claim about the GT-R is what can't be substantiated. Except by Porsche..... who is all that really matters. Seriously, get a grip on your inner fanboy. It's a Nissan and it grabbed headlines because Nissan cooked up a meal that you're eating buffet style. Get a grip. Nice post. |

Its no wonder Porsche is embarrased enough to make up stories. The Turbo doesn't stand a snowball's chance against the GT-R anywhere in the world its been tested by a third party, and certainly not the Carrera S. Keep dreaming. LOL!

Very interesting review from same driver, same-day 997TT vs. stock GT-R. http://www.nagtroc.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=25007 Owning both cars simultaneously, I guess he would know. |

I suppose you didn't read it so I'll put it here for you. He said: Conclusion: Stock for Stock, the 997TT HAS NO CHANCE WHATSOEVER versus a stock GT-R. A bit redundant, but I guess he really wanted to get the point across.
