2009 Nissan GT-R vs. 2008 Porsche 911 Turbo
- Balance and body control of the GT-R are extraordinary through faster, bumpy bends that will have the 911 unsettled enough to make the driver lose confidence. I had a number of heart-in-mouth moments in the Turbo trying to keep up with the GT-R, even with the Porsche's suspension set to its harder Sport setting. (more)

exactly - and when we need practicality (like carrying 4 kayaks on the roof, or going snowboarding) we have it! fun to drive and reasonably practical! can't beat it!

There is way too much bias for you to call yourself a realist. Your theories sound something like "I've driven a Porsche, therefore Porsche is best".

I'll try to write slowly so you get it.

I have never written anywhere in this formum that I think that the 911 is "better" than the GTR. I can't make an intelligent claim either way because I have never DRIVEN it. But I'm sure as heck not going to blindly take someone else's word for it. I've disagreed with too many reviews once I got behind the wheel of the car myself.

You think 3 performance statistics and/or company test drivers' opinions are the holy grail by which one car can be proclaimed to be "the best"? That isn't being objective, it's being ignorant. And I'd say the same thing regardless of who the "winner" was proclaimed to be.

I think this forum is dead. How many opinions need to be written about reviews or opinions written by other people? For what purpose? To prove that they have spent more time READING about cars than the next guy (or gal). Putting that kind of time and effort into your day job might just raise your affordability threshold when you actually get around to buying something. Just a thought.

I've removed a number of posts from this discussion. If you notice that yours are missing and you'd like them back, please email me and I'll send them to you. A few barely respectful posts still remain because they contain potential seeds for productive and civil discussion if cooler heads can prevail.

A few other things...
* Bias, subjectivity, and personal experience are valid factors in formulating any opinion.
* All opinions are valued here, as long as they apply to cars.
* The cars being discussed here are not Subarus. Subaru Forums are here: http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/WebX/.eea1a91/

What I'm hearing is that nearly everyone here acknowledges the price and speed of the GT-R, but that opinions vary when it comes to the effect that these factors will have in the the hearts, minds, imaginations, and wallets of drivers. This is something that can be discussed without getting personal.

If you have any questions or comments, please send me an email.
