2009 Nissan GT-R vs. 2008 Porsche 911 Turbo
- Balance and body control of the GT-R are extraordinary through faster, bumpy bends that will have the 911 unsettled enough to make the driver lose confidence. I had a number of heart-in-mouth moments in the Turbo trying to keep up with the GT-R, even with the Porsche's suspension set to its harder Sport setting. (more)

Okay, fine. The $191K Porsche 911 GT2 probably has more "visceral feel" than the $70-$80K GT-R. That stuff is pretty expensive.

Try the $85k C2S coupe if the GT2 is out of your budget. It's "only" capable of a 0-60 time of 3.9 seconds according to one road test and will leave you 8-10 seconds behind the GT-R around Nurburgring, but it weighs 800 pounds less and will likely having you enjoying double digit speeds around your favorite twisties more. Trading off a few tenths of a second in a drag race to get rid of a water buffalo in the passenger seat is worth it, IMO.

Hell, I don't mind recommending my old Honda S2000 as a nice prudent alternative at about 40% of the cost of the GT-R. Unless stop light drag racing is your thing, it is a scalpal through the curves. And it's frugal as hell to maintain as well.

From a styling point of view, lol, the only thing the Nissan GT-R is missing is the Pep-Boys rear wing, gray primer paint job, neon undercarriage lighting (said to offer an additional 50 horsepower due to 'levitating properties'), "Type-S" stickers on the back bumper and a fart-can exhaust...

That's why the majority of my customers get "Driver Care". $695 and you have a 5 yr unlimited mileage, unlimited cap cost on your wheels and tires. jAs long as you aren't curbing it, the warranty covers everything. Awesome product and no worries about those beautiful rims.

Greetings:

Geez, and I thought only the 350Z had the " fartcan " exhaust , and only as an option. Well I guess they are trying to hold down the weight on the GT-R. ( Thanks for the chuckle .) I've seen those cool blue undercarriage lights on " Rice Rockets ", those are cool too!

Greetings:

Congrats...... what a lucky guy. Someone here or on the Nissan ( GT-2 )site said that Porsches are driven by dumb, rich people. My take on that is that dumb people rarely get rich. Enjoy your GT2. What a great car. I love my C2S and these detractors will never understand what it is like to own and drive a Porsche. We don't buy the cars for them, we buy the car for ourselves. 44 years from now I greatly doubt that the GT-R will be around .. now Porsche yea.. it will still be here.

Again...Congrats

Chromedome... I like Carrara White!

Ok, it is heavier car. However, for those who's actually driven previous generations GT-R knows that V-spec model ( I bet Nissan is preping it and aims directly at the 997GT-2) is not far from future. It will be even more better than this one. As well as a 6-spd manual gearbox, less weight, more hp. As far as history of the previous gen GT-R and its racing heritage please google it up, and if possible head down to RBmotoring and check out some of the previous gen GT-R or better yet I highly recommend test drive one before u start yapping about how it disgust u are cause it's simply not a "Porsche". k.

They won't be going to be a 6spd gearbox...... They have their DSG! That would lower the overall acceleration. Of course, I have nothing to base that on besides gut feeling.

well you need to do your reseach b/c the GT-R will have been here for 40 years in 2009. and it will continue to be here.

the fact of the matter is that you porsche fanboys hate the fact that the GT-R is better than the 996 and 997 911, 996 GT2 and is on the tails of the 997 GT2, GT3 and it didnt take the car needing to cost 150k to be possible. and even shooting past those two to the Carrera GT. which the V-spec wont even cost more than 120k compared to a half a million dollar GT that is not 1 million

so yall can talk all the "I have a porsche and its just a nissan crap" all yall want. that "nissan crap" dethroned yalls precious little rediculously price 120k plus cars. the fact of the matter is that. Like yourselves porshces is now worried about nissan for Good reason. porsche doesnt make the benchmark supercar anymore, nissan does. everyone isnt chasing porsche anymore. they including porsche are chasing the GT-R

the heavier bigger car is more agile and faster than the porsche.

so yall can complain, bitch, moan and gripe all yall want. the fact of the matter is that the base GT-R shits on the 911 turbo and GT-R V-spec is about to kill the GT2 and GT3 with ease b/c its sights are on the Carrera GT

looking past the GT2 an d GT3 as if they dont matter. which in turn they really dont.

yall are just mad that at 70k people will havee better than porsche performace and more refined than a porsche product. "but this is a porsche and thats just a nissan"

and whil eyou say that. the guy in the GT-R is laughing at your 120k-150k purchase after he just blew your doors off. cant even say the porsche looks better than the GT-R b/c it doesnt

GO nissan.
