I have a 2007 GT AWD loaded except for the technology package. I wanted the upgraded stereo since the base system sucked and I need my music when I'm driving 100+ miles/day. However, whenever there is the slightest bass in a song, I experience very loud vibrations coming from the plastic components one the passenger and driver door arm rests. It is coming from the plastic pieces on the arm rest right where the window controls are, and it is driving me crazy. This is the first new car I have bought, and I've been very disappointed with this. I can't listen to the stereo without being killed by these vibrations. The area furthest back on the arm rest has a cushioned rubber piece for your elbow, and there are no vibrations coming from there, but where there is plastic on plastic, the vibrations are unbearable. I don't know why there is no buffer between the two pieces to dampen the vibrations, but this "minor" problem has been a "major" disappointment for me. Don't know if anyone has experience this as well, and/or if you have found a fix for it, but when I took it to the dealership, they told me that there was nothing they could do about it. The styling and the performance is everything I wanted, but (and this may sound ridiculous to you) these vibration problems almost make me wish I had gone with one of the other vehicles I looked at. Replying to: vbbuilt (Dec 12, 2007 1:36 pm) Yeah, that was actually my post. I wanted to see if there were any others out there that have had this specific problem as well. I got your response, but as I said, the vibration isn't coming from inside the doors, but rather from the two plastic pieces on the armrest by the window controls. Plastic on plastic was the first bad idea. The second was to make the top plastic piece nice and thin so it vibrates even louder. Unlike your problem, the vibrations are the same whether the door is open or closed. It is honestly driving me crazy, and I'll be damned if I can find a solution to it. It's killing me and my love for this car.
