Comparison Test: 2007-2008 V6 Family Sedans - Each of the four entrants chosen for our comparison test represents the highest available trim level, and each is also packed with nearly every available option and an overachieving V6 power plant driving the front wheels. Heck, the least powerful engine in this test churns out 252 horsepower, a figure that was unheard of in the mainstream sedan world not long ago. (more)

2007 Camry is the car of the year in Motor Trend, but it dropped to the fifth place in 2008. Just like dropping from haven to hell. It is either they did something wrong on the 2007 test or they did something inconsistently with this year's test, just not make sense.

Again, the reason for Camry's late showing this year is that the field has changed: We now have a new Honda and a new Chevrolet to choose from. Two cars which are likely better cars overall.

They just tested a new Accord and ranked it second behind the Altima SE V-6 and 4cyl. Lets all remember they don't advertise and therefore don't get money from anybody. They call it like they see it with a clear consicience, nobody to pay back or favors to be called on. I've always enjoyed their candor and have used CR's analysis more than any others as a result of no allegences.

I sat in a '08 Malibu the other day, which CR will be testing next month. It is an awesome car and will compete with all mid-sized sedans for sure. It would not surprise me if it was close to the Altima, or even a point better. The tranny is good but perhaps not as sweet as the CVT, and the V-q engine will be hard to beat. The Altima is .3 faster to 60 if that's important to you. The Malibu is elegant inside!
