Full Test: 2009 Nissan Murano LE
- Now that the Murano has developed a loyal following, Nissan has been careful to evolve, improve and upgrade the all-new 2009 Murano without compromising the things responsible for its success. As we see it, these things have been the Murano's untraditional exterior style, its ample second-row accommodations and its engaging driving dynamics. (more)

Thanks for the article. I've been looking forward to the actual test drives of the '09. The article pretty much stated what I was expecting. I can't wait to see the new interior in person, as that was what kept me away from virtually all Nissan products a few years ago.

The only other question I have, right now, is pricing. Is the $35.8K MSRP shown in the "Speed Read" column an estimate from Nissan? It looks like you tested an LE AWD, no moonroof, no navigation, and with the rear DVD package.

My main concern was that Nissan was going to base price the LE close to $40K (which is sounds like it'll still hit with nav/rear-DVD/moonroof packages), pushing it well into Lexus/Acura territory. If a no-option LE comes in around $34K MSRP, I'll be pleased.

This new Murano certainly is on the top of my shopping list next year, although I'll wait a couple months for the price to come down.

One thing I really want to know is the ride quality of the new Murano, because I used to drive the current generation and the only thing I could complain about was its somewhat harsh ride over uneven pavements, speed bumps, etc. On highways the ride was very smooth and stable, I had no problem driving it from Los Angeles to San Francisco and back numerous times, but whenever there's a bump or pothole the suspension seemed to firmed up noticeably. I just hope Nissan has improved the suspension of the new Murano, otherwise I might have to wait for the new Honda Pilot (or even the new, cheaper but less attractive Subaru Forester) and see how they compare...

when might we get some more advanced information on the bigger brother or luxury brother of the new Murano in the 2009 Infiniti FX37 and FX50?

The model is set to make it's debut at the Geneva Auto Show in March. In my mind that means we should have some spy photos of test mules being driven around somewhere in the world.

Is Nissan/Infiniti just that good at keeping their new models under wraps or are all the auto media types asleep on this one?

GET ME SOME INFO.

Does anyone actaully think that it looks good, I think it is almost as ugly as the B-9 tribeca. Also all the the car magizines and websites gave the edge crap for not having a third row and you reward the nissan what a surprise, just another example of the media be biassed towards the japanese automobiles.

I read the Edmunds review of the Edge and seems like the focus was on its mediocre performance (particularly the brakes) and overall execution, rather than its lack of a 3rd row.

As for the styling of the Murano, I like it. I wasn't a fan when the first generation was launched, but it's slowly grown on me.

I think the Edge is also a fine looking vehicle, but it seems to blend in with other mid-size SUVs, particularly from the rear view. The Murano is, unmistakably, a Murano.

I drive the 2006 Murano, and absolutely love everything about it. I was considering switching to the new Infiniti EX35 when the lease is up since the interior is so much better. But the 2009 version looks promising, can't wait to test drive one myself.

Can't wait to see the pricing on the new model. Looks like the LE will be around $35K before adding Nav or Entertainment which is actually a pretty good price.

The 1st gen Murano looked really good.
Since this 2nd gen is like pretty much the same as the first one, WHY DID NISSAN CHANGE THE FRONT?????
