I would agree if Mazda's Owners Manuals warned that doing your own oil changes voids the warranty. They lied over and over to me. Having my oil changed at the dealership is a day long 50 mile ordeal. Mazda USA has turned to S**T!!!!!

The manual does say: "The owner should retain evidence that proper maintenance has been performed as prescribed."

Not sure what they consider to be adequate evidence, though.

You said: I had done my own oil cahnges and they said they was the problem and refused service.

Did they say this because they felt you did not have the evidence to show that the oil changes were done or because they thought the oil changes had not been performed correctly?

What exactly was the problem that you had with the engine, anyway?

Good for you!!! I had multiple issues with my 2004 Mazda 6 . I had to complain to Mazda Corporation and I won everytime. But, July 2007 I had enough so I traded my 2004 Mazda 6 for a brand new 2007 Lexus IS 250 fully loaded, which I LOVE!!! No more Mazda's for me!!

I'm a mechanic with a lift here at my home. I have all the necessary equipment to do anything regarding auto repair. Mazda said they do not recognize home oil changes. I have receipts showing the oil and filters. I was required to have performed 2 oil changes and I had done 3. The engine thru a rod bearing. I replaced the engine myself.

Thanks for the details. Was it the I4 or V6, btw and how many miles were on it when the engine blew? Just curious.

i have a 2006 mazda 6s 3 litre v6 that blew a rod at 59 000 miles this is totally ridiculous and of course my warranties up and ofcourse they cant do anything for me at all. now they want these services reciepts for the car and i bought it used in 2008 so anything from 06 till feb 08 i dont have and ofcourse since i like to take care of my own cars they wont honor the fact that i changed the oil myself a few times, the odd part in all of this was my last oil change and service was done at a mazda dealer 1 month prior to this of and they readjusted the cam caps which is a bs do nothing operation that cost me over 300 bucks. so i finally take it to the dealer and a month later the motor blows hmm thats odd to me the car never had one single problem before entering the dealerships except a bent rim that cost me 250 to replace. so now im stuck with this car that needs a motor and ill be dammed if im going to pay 8000 out of pocket cause mazda dosent back their inadequate products and secondley no amount of oil changes would prevent this from happening thats bs also and further more if they want to play that game my oil was changed by them a month before this happened by their mechanics. if anyone can help me get them to pay for this id highly appreciate it. i know this ill never own another mazda again their non driver friendly maintence requirements are ridiculous and the fact that they only honor work done by them is even more bogus.

I drive past Dworkin Mazda all the time and the buildings are empty. Too bad to a business that screwed me. And Mazda USA.... let them die as well. I've had 56 cars of which 7 were Mazdas. Great cars........Crappy company. Bye Bye Mazda.

I gave up trying to get Mazda to do the right thing and am compiling all this data to prove to them they have a systemic chronic problem with these cars and I want the money I paid to replace my Mazda's engine back.
