I think that in the last 10 years car owners have become more knowledgeable about cars and do a number of jobs on their cars bypassing the dealer service bills. However, to order parts (e.g. cam belt, spark plugs, cooling system hoses, brake pads, calipers, filters, etc) in addition to flushing the car’s fluids we need to have access to Mazda part’s database. Hyundai used to facilitate this task by asking customers who bought a Hyundai car to register on line with the VIN number of the car and other information and then it was easy to enter this facility on line and request the part directly on line or by taking the p/n to the dealer or phoning any Hyundai dealer to get the part for you. This is very beneficial to the car’s owner because the owner could see on the screen if the part that is required has also other parts that work together. For example, usually when the cam belt is changed also the idle and tensioner has to be changed (sometimes the parts are sold as part of a kit). Equally the owner will see that some parts are sold individually or as a part of a kit. An example is the brake kit. People working in the part’s department are not always helpful because he/she would like you to book your car in at the dealership. I wonder if Mazda has a similar service of accessing its part database after registration. Equally does anyone know how to order a couple of “Mirror-integrated LED directional signals”? I have accessed the Japanese Mazda site and all the CX-7s shown in this site have those beautiful mirrors. Look at those cars: CX-9, Outlook, Acadia, Tribeca, etc all have adopted the European way of signalling a turn, i.e. Mirrors integrated with LED turning lights. |
