I own a 2004 GT2. The primary difference that I am aware of is the GT2 has an information center in the middle of dash which is very nice. My car has every option available in 2004 except the turbo (which is the GTP). I love this car, gas milage, however, I find the drivers seat very uncomfortable. If you are a tall or big build person, please use caution. Also if you have children with car seats, etc, the back seat area is small. If you are smaller frame person and no kids, this is a great car for you. When looking for my GT2, I found that the GT2 most commonly had the options I wanted like leather, xm, sun roof, etc. I only looked for GT2. I also think that 05 and 06 seats and floor pans are little different, so they might sit better. I thought the 05 and 06 were more comfortable that my 04.

All I am reading is negative problems with the cars. I am looking to buy either car for my daughter. She goes to school 7 hours away and I need a dependable and safe car for her. Anyone recommend one of these cars or have a better suggestion? My funds are limited to maybe a 1998 to 2001 car. Help!

I have a 2004 GP GT2. This is great car. I find it to be very dependable and offer outstanding performance. The one issue that I have is comfort for me in the drivers seat and enough room for 2 adults and car seats for kids. This is not an issue for you. I get great gas milage and enjoy driving the car, however, for a big guy the front seats are not the greatest, again, not an issue for you. IF the front seats were designed better, I would keep mine. hope this helps.

Is it possible to pull codes for this year by using jumper between terminals on obd plug under dash? I bought a code reader but it won't work because this model year was a transitional one from OBD1 and OBD2. Any info greatly appreciated. Thanks

For the 04 year the gt1 does not have all the features that the gt2 has (ie, dual zone automatic climate controls, heads up display, 2 extra buttons for the computer, and the sound system). I have a gt1 and its just the base model with a dual exhaust. Everything 05 and after the gt2 is the supercharged model.
