Comparison Test: 2008 Honda Accord Coupe vs. 2008 Nissan Altima Coupe
- The 3.5-liter SOHC V6 in the Accord produces 268 horsepower at 6,200 rpm, while the 3.5-liter DOHC V6 under the Altima's hood is good for 270 hp at 6,000 rpm. Despite the edge in torque output that the Nissan V6's 258 pound-feet has over the Honda's 248 lb-ft, the Accord feels as if it is the twist-meister here. (more)

What a very biased view with no supporting evidence.

How about CR's manufacturer reliability data on Honda and Nissan for the last 15 years showing Honda's vast superiority.

How about Honda's continued domination in sales compared to Nissan?

I think that is 2 items of supporting evidence now.

Should I think of more?

Reliability is all you look at in a car?

And, Hondas domination in sales means nothing to me. McDonald's outsells Wendy's too, but I'd much prefer to eat at Wendy's.

Calling a car company as a whole "inferior" to another based on one parameter and sales numbers is your choice. I choose to look at a larger view.

Don't get me wrong, I love my Honda, but I wouldnt think twice about looking at an Altima if I totaled my Accord today.

I recently had the opportunity to test drive a 2006 Nissan Altima 2.5S model with the auto transmission.

I have to say that although the car is not really flawed in any major way, I would find it hard to believe that anyone would rank any particular feature of that car over a 2006 Accord.

The 4 banger was adequate but coarse, loud, and rough at high RPM's. The acceleration does not liven up enough for my tastes, but that could be due to the slushbox.

The handling did not impress me in any way, but it was stable and "safe."

The interior was OK.

The deal my brother in law got was not all that great even with the 3K rebate.

Refinement of the engine in Altima leaves a lot to be desired. The steering is isolated too (the boost is fine, just that there is no "connection"). The car feels bigger than it needs to with a higher dash and what looks like an obstrusive hood from the driver's seat.

One thing I do like is the manual mode with the CVT. It works very well. The engine though, begs for pardon, anytime it is asked to deliver.

how about CR's reliability data on toyota camry and honda accord over the last 15 years showing the camry's vast superiority?

How about toyota's continued domination in sales compared to honda? (or Gm and Fords domination for that matter)

just 2 examples of how pointless it is to drive anything but a toyota.

See how that works

nissan who? by japs

the Nissan coupe took a beating because the car is junk. Inside is very cheap looking, the paint is horrible, the cvt just as bad. Option packages are absurdly way over priced. The Accord coupe is in a league of its own.
