I have the 2009 Murano SL AWD with (20k miles) and knock on wood I haven't had any problems yet. Maybe it is something to do with the onboard computor that dosen't show a malfunction when tested.

Don't let it become a Major Issue with it because it is getting worse and worse! It is leaving me stranded almost every week instead of once in a blue moon. If you have to fight it with Nissan good luck with that because their customer service SUCKS!!! I don't have a good feeling about this because they won't even provide a rental car until they can diagnose the problem... How long have you had this issue? Seems to me Nissan wouldn't want to be liable if the car stalled somewhere and became a safety liability..

the Murano S has the Start/Stop button to turn engine on/off... have you noticed that if you pull out the key fob and DO NOT PUSH START/STOP BUTTON the engine will stay on? And if you park in the garage and do not hear that the quiet engine is still on, you will kill your entire family with Carbon Monoxide!!!! And our Nissan mechanic confirms that the design is correct... i have written to Nissan... NO ANSWER!!! Replying to: pbj3 (Jun 02, 2009 1:52 pm) My first suggestion then would be first to not even bother putting the key fob in the dash. Keep it in your pocket. Then when you get out of the car and try to lock it, the car will beep and tell you the car is still on.   My second suggestion would be to not leave your car running in your garage. I know that it's hard to hear the engine on the Murano. That's one of the great things about that car. The other great thing is the keyless ignition.   This is NOT a design flaw. The place you put your key fob is only for storage. It has nothing to do with turning on and off your car. It just takes some getting used to.   Please don't kill your family. Just get used to turning your car off when you pull in the garage. I've actually turned my car off on accident when going to turn off the radio because I'm so used to the feature. Replying to: reddevil4 (May 27, 2009 9:49 pm) Interesting-I found very similiar results. I've tried 87 and 91 and found almost no difference with mileage. Although I do think the higher octane gives the car a bit more pep but it's certainly not worth the extra money to by 91 octane. I find it hard to believe someone got 4 miles more to the gallon.

Replying to: keycrusader (Jun 02, 2009 2:51 pm) The Key Port "slot" is for use when the battery dies in the Intelligent Key. (or if it otherwise quits working.) You can open the car with the Mechanical Key inside the Intelligent Key, and plugging the Intelligent Key into that slot will allow the push button to start the car.   See page 5-11 of your owners manual.   --jayhawk

I think I have finally gotten someones attention at Nissan. I am going today to pick out a new car. It might take a week to get everything settled but the Nissan rep finally called me on her own to give me an update. The vehicle was towed again ( 8 times now) and I actually got a loaner car this time!!!!! Keep you fingers crossed for me so I won't have to hire the attorney after all.
