If you are deciding between either a Lincoln Mkx with a toyota Highlander that is not a fair comparision for either.

If you like the Mkx you should look at a Lexus Rx350, Cadillac Srx, Acura Mdx, and etc.

If you like the Highlander you should look at the Ford edge, GMC Acadia, Saturn Outlook, Mazada CX-9, and Honda Pilot.

Thoses are more fair comparsion.

I don't get the premise of this discussion, as you have an apples/oranges comparison. The Highlander compares to the Ford Edge, not the Lincoln. The MKX should win every time here, and it seems it does.

Traded in a Highlander by townhome

We traded in a 2002 Highlander my wife had before we were married for a 2007 MKX. It was an OK car, but one that I did not want. It had about 85,000 miles on it and needed a $1500 repair to the HVAC system (the temp control button did not work and so the entire unit needed to be replaced). I know that's not bad for a 5 yr old car, but my Ford Ranger is 11 yrs old, has 85,000 miles on it, and has never needed a repair. My wife's Highlander reminded me too much of my 1990 Toyota truck -- everyone thought it was nice and reliable, but it left me stranded more than any other car I've owned before or since. I traded it for the Ford truck and was never stuck on the side of the road again. So far, our Lincoln has 10,000 miles on it and it is perfect.

If you are shopping for a car, I can't see why anyone would be stuck between a Highlander and a MkX.
They are both 2 completely different cars that you should be comparing each other with when buying a new car.

However, I must say that even though the Highlander has been remodeled to look like a Rav4 that just ate a small elephant, the MkX is still much better looking on the outside than the Highlander and the Lexus RX350 (which you should be comparing it with in the first place.)

Price it the reason - RX350 can go very high, while MKX and (new, less-discounted Highlander) can be quite close.

If you're talking about personal preference then you can compare anything you want to anything else. I cross shopped a Mercury Cougar, Mustang GT and Lincoln LS at the same time.

But the poster didn't say he compared them - he said he traded a Highlander in on the MKX. Apparently his experience with Toyotas eliminated the RX350 from the shopping list.

I just put a deposit down on the 2007 MKX (red with light/wood and leather interior). IT IS GORGEOUS. I just paid off my 2002 Champagne Highlander Limited lease and tomorrow I'm getting it inspected to turn it in. It practically looks new, except i'll probably get hit for the tires. I probably would have gone into another Toyota, but The 2008 highlander is a bland looking blob. The 4 runner is loud and trucky. I'm also a LI NY gal now living in Florida and have been SUV shopping for over a month now, looking for the glitz. Its all about the leather, wood, sunroof and quiet ride in luxury. I've looked and test drove them all and the MKX is my fave! The Nissan Murano with touring package wasn't bad with the wood trim, but the MKX is such a smoother ride. Which forum can tell me if I'm getting a good lease deal using the current 39 month lease promotion. The dealer is giving me the $2750 cashback rebate, so I'm putting $1000 down OTD (includes first month and lic, tax) and my payments will be $403.10 per month. Do you need more info to let me know if its a good deal? Should I wait for the 2008 to come out and hope to make the same deal. Or am I dreaming?

You'll want to post your question in Lincoln MKX Lease Questions.

I am glad I waited because I have seen the Buick Enclave and fell in love... HOT... I am ordering it because dealers sell them before the get on the lot.. I know.. what a change but the MKX did not have that "3rd" row... This car is me.. sexy sleek and hard to get...
