Comparison Test: 2007-2008 Sport Sedans - This is exactly why we gathered this group of sport sedans. That is, to find out if the 2008 Cadillac CTS, 2007 Infiniti G35 Sport, 2008 Lexus IS 350 or 2008 Mercedes-Benz C350 Sport can topple the Bavarian champ — the 2007 BMW 335i. In the spirit of the segment, each car in the test is outfitted with sport package hardware — usually a stiffer suspension and bigger wheels and tires — and an automatic transmission. (more)

Even more frustrating is the endless amount of threads from toehrs talking about how they ordered the exact IS they wanted, and it came in ahead of schedule. I ordered the exact G I wanted, over the phone no less, and it came in exactly the way I wanted. Every person has a different experience, that's for sure.

The Audi dealer up the road proved a notably less satisfying experience during the shopping phase as was my local BMW dealer, (which has since changed owners). Regards, OW |

Replying to: 6sptl (Nov 08, 2007 6:15 pm) But I think your memory of your former TL has become a little clouded. I own a 2004 6-speed and test drove a 2007 TL-S 6-speed a couple of months ago. As much as I am happy with my car as a "sporty" family sedan, it is absolutely not in the same league as the 3-series in handling, steering or overall performance. If performance were my priority, I'd readily take a 328i over the TL-S, let alone the 335i. I don't know what you could possibly be thinking when you claim that a 62/38 nose heavy, FWD TL-S will outhandle and outrace a perfectly balanced 50/50 RWD 3 series. When I jump out of my 911 and into my TL 6-speed, I have to baby the TL so as not to induce torque steer and wheel hop that borders on the dangerous under hard acceleration. You could point your S2000 straight ahead and accelerate to 60 through 1st and 2nd gear without holding the steering wheel and it will go straight. Do that in a TL and you will be in a meat wagon heading to the morgue. FWD is not, nor will it ever be, conducive to performance. Period.

The S2000 (which I'm sure is a quicker track car than the TL-S) ran a best of 8:39, and for reference the Ferrari 360 Modena ran a best of 8:09 meaning the difference between the S2000 and the 335i's best is almost as significant as the difference between the 335i and the Ferrari 360 Modena. Fairly significant. I apologize for comparing the 335i to a S2000 but the fact is I can't even find any verified/usable track times for the TL-S since it seems they're fairly rare to see at a track in the first place...
