Comparison Test: 2007-2008 Sport Sedans - This is exactly why we gathered this group of sport sedans. That is, to find out if the 2008 Cadillac CTS, 2007 Infiniti G35 Sport, 2008 Lexus IS 350 or 2008 Mercedes-Benz C350 Sport can topple the Bavarian champ — the 2007 BMW 335i. In the spirit of the segment, each car in the test is outfitted with sport package hardware — usually a stiffer suspension and bigger wheels and tires — and an automatic transmission. (more)

I think you are giving a lot of credit to manumatics where it isn't due.

I just gave you the facts. Edmunds has the right to do whatever they want in their comparison tests. Like others and myself have mentioned, most people will choose the automatic transmission. You may not prefer a manumatic in your sports sedan, but others might. Its still a sports sedan, period.

Mysteriously the TL type S was not included in this comparison. Why??????? could it be that it would be highly embarrrassing for all the other models to get whipped by a FWD car that is already slated for replacement?????? Or is it that Honda hasn't paid its Edmunds dues? Inquiring minds want to know

If you have read R&T's last Japanese sports sedan comparo earlier this year you'll see that the TL-S is one amazing FWD performance machine. However, when it was pitted against RWD cars it would still come up short.

I drove the TL couple times and I think it might be one of the best (if not the best) FWD cars on the market right now. But the nose-heavy feel is just not the same to the more balanced RWD setup.

The TL isn't a bad car but it just would not fare very well in this competition. I'm guessing by your username that you drive one and probably think the world of it. But the fact is that yes, it really badly needs a redesign before it belongs back in direct competition with the cars that were in this article.

They can't include every car in this class so they have to leave out the ones that everybody is already tired of hearing about. The ones that haven't seen a significant change in years. Also missing from this article are the Audi A4, the Saab 9-3, and the Jaguar X-type, and the Lincoln MKZ. They have to draw the line somewhere, especially regarding cars that we already know would not have been contenders for first place.

You can bet you'll see the new TL in comparisons when the new design comes out in less than a year from now.

306 Horses , RWD , 0-60 5.6 , Port & Direct Fuel Injection, 21 city 28 highway, ULEVII, 6 speed sequential Gearbox, and the Interior in my opinion is best in class...

The proof is in the pudding. The fact is that the TLS will outhandle and outrace any of these vehicles, furthermore, it is as comfortable if not more than any of these, and has more standard goodies. Whether the "feel" is superior or not that is another story. BTW though my moniker is 6spdtl I don't own one any more, I swapped it for an RL. In the upper midwest AWD is a must have. Since the RL doesn't have the dynamics of the TL (the so called feel) I also bought an s2000, which I always wanted anyway!

I agree. Best in Class. I would be driving one today, except for one thing. My head touches the damn sunroof, and Lexus won't build me one without it.
