What is this discussion about? Cadillac CTS, BMW 3 Series, Infiniti G35, Mercedes-Benz 350-Class, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Car Comparisons, Sedan

Comparison Test: 2007-2008 Sport Sedans - This is exactly why we gathered this group of sport sedans. That is, to find out if the 2008 Cadillac CTS, 2007 Infiniti G35 Sport, 2008 Lexus IS 350 or 2008 Mercedes-Benz C350 Sport can topple the Bavarian champ — the 2007 BMW 335i. In the spirit of the segment, each car in the test is outfitted with sport package hardware — usually a stiffer suspension and bigger wheels and tires — and an automatic transmission. (more)

"Good grief, Steven Hawking, there really is an alternate universe! Where the Mattel Toy inspired, chrome-crazed styling of the CTS is considered "elegant". and why is the air turning purple. And where the original muscle car NASCAR loving "Yeehaws" suddenly woke up with little monsters on their toungs thinking they are "sophisticated" while the sounds in the room started turning into all the colors of the rainbow?
I'm not sure what space ship you took to get here, but maybe you could commandeer the Mother Ship and relocate GM to your planet? Because they sure don't seem to be doing very well on this one. I guess all of that 40 year old push rod sophistication isn't fooling as many Earthlings as GM had hoped. All I can see now is the wall melting and my mind is expanding into a whirlwind of nothingness.

kdshiparo, first your LSD experience, and now this! habitat1, Nancy Reagan told us to "just say no"
Sage advice, IMHO...

kdshiparo, It's obvious you never seriously considered any of the other cars. There's BMW and then everybody else - the poor losers! Just because the poster doesn't share your opinion doesn't mean he (or she) hasn't driven the car."

Not only did I not not drive the BMW 335i, but I've driven the older 330i and a really, really clunky convertable 4-cylinder BMW from the late 80's that was so stripped it had roll-up windows for crying out loud (A luxury car with a I4 and roll-up windows? you have got to be kidding...)!
I am left in all instances that the cars all had obvious taxicab DNA. For this reason I am on this forum warning people.

The 3-Series can only appeal to the mind that thinks burning strips of rubber on asphalt constitutes a competent sports sedan.
These are the same people that watch NASCAR events.
FOR THIS REASON AND THIS REASON ALONE, IT EXPLAINS WHY THE BMW 3-SERIES IS THE #1 SELLER IN AMERICA AND WHY NASCAR EVENTS ARE THE #1 WATCHED RACING CIRCUIT IN AMERICA!

I wouldn't be the least bit suprised to see a beer-swiggin, tobacco-chewin' NASCAR racing circuit parking lot clogged to the rafters with BMW 335i's, since the BMW appeals only to the least common denominator in our society: Those who view a car's value in acceleration times only, without giving a second thought to sophistication or high-culture.

The CTS exudes richness and taste; just look at the level of detail Cadillac designers put in the interior lighting. They took the interior elements of the jet and fused it into the tasteful and refined automotive interior:

Oh come on. This isn't 1984. 2+2 does not equal 5. Somehow the entire world has been fooled by BMW because their cars are taxis? Please. The market has spoken, the world over; BMWs command a premium no matter where they are because they supply something people want- passion, driving dynamics, luxury, and yes.. posing. The fact that Cadillac has just gotten on point the last few years after 30+ years in the wilderness, but beside the point.

Let the thread show that I have not shown any particular allegiance to any specific brand, while disparging the others.

Thats right. What you are doing however is a thinly veiled attempt to show BMW is not worthwhile due to it's "taxicab" heritage. While the G is pure DNA. What a bunch of rubbish.

I would like to thank you for the entertaining banter. BMW must be laughing all the way to the bank. YTD it outsells the G, 2 to 1. I wish I was a savvy to have a customer base like BMW. The nerve paying a premium for a taxicab. BMW customers must be as stupid as Inifinitis' customer however. Paying a premium for a RWD Maxima.

BMW outsells Infiniti - therefore proof that it is the better car. Can we please get past this? BMW could sell twice as many pieces of the identical bread as Infiniti just because is has the well-earned reputation that Infiniti is just now getting. A few years ago the company was almost bankrupt - the fact that Infiniti is this competitive so quickly is remarkable. BMW is much more well known to the buying public, has built-in brand loyalty, much higher prestige, been around much longer, and for conservative customers is a much safer choice than the Infiniti. Their market position is so much better than Infiniti's due to their longevity. BMW has such a large built-in advantage before releasing any car that their sales should be much larger. Besides following the heard has often proven to be incorrect over the long run. Let's not confuse popularity with being the best.

Paying a premium for a RWD Maxima.

I agree 100% that the fact that BMW makes taxis in Europe is irrelevant, but why keep making these types of comments about the Infiniti? The two incorrect comments are not related but two different topics.

The Infiniti and Maximum are far different cars just like BMW and VW are far different.
