My common man's assumption is that if I want a bit more speed I'd go with the 2WD, but if i want more stability I'd go with the AWD -- is this accurate? As you can tell, I'm not a car expert, but I've been hard pressed to find a more fully loaded car than this EX35, in terms of having luxury, utility (albeit limited), sport, and technology. Replying to: dcjenkins (Apr 30, 2009 11:06 am) I'd say that's right. I think the 2WD has a better turning circle and maybe a marginal improvement in gas mileage (but it's probably neglible). I have the AWD vehicle and it seems to handle solidly in the rain. I live in the Northeast. No snow yet since my car purchase. Had I lived in a more temperate climate, I might've gone with the 2WD. Less stuff to break/fix. It's a complex system. And the vehicle cost is less. But where I live they just don't sell the 2WD. I think the pick up in the 2WD is more spirited but I wouldn't know from first hand experience.

So if you live in an area with months of snow and ice then AWD may be a better choice. If you live where the winters are milder then the 2wd would be fine. Having the proper winter tires is more important than how many wheels are being driven. With a set of Michelin Xi2 snow tires my 2wd handles the snow and ice really well. The traction control and stability system worked well on slick roads.

There, of course, is a target consumer. What is that consumer? I'm not sure yobut I am a 55, semi-retired, ex-soccer mom. My husband and I are somewhat empty-nester's (college kid)so trip's aren't that big a deal with fold down seats. Leg room is cramped, so a third person, which we have had, should either sit behind the shortest front seat passenger or be on the short side. I've been looking into mounting luggage on the roof (got racks but no crossbars?) but haven't made a decision on it yet. There are a few little things that bug me, like no auto hatch (use it more than the auto-up seats but not DOWN) but nothing I can't live without. LOTS of gizzmo's that I really don't need, but they came with the deal. Just need to figure them all out! I'm averaging approx. 22 mph, more city than highway, so I'm happy with that. The best thing for me about this car is the ride. I find myself enjoying just being behind of the wheel. I had taken a 2007 BMW 500 series(which ever one)out on a test drive and thought I'd found the car of my dreams. But I gotta say, this little dude rides like a cloud, plenty of comfort, and yes, even the memories of the sporty need is there when I step on the gas. I find myself over-driving the brakes a little, due to going too fast! I am an ex-soccer mom, and have gone from sedans, coupes, full-sive SUV's and back to a sports coupe, and this car has fulfilled my needs very satisfactorily. I bought it outright, so I'm on OWNER, not a leaser, and I'm looking to pamper and take care of it. But don't be afraid of it...let's see Infiniti put their products to the test. So far, so good.

Does anyone know if the new 2010 EX35 will have the same 7 speed trans as the FX35. There seems to be some transmission troubles discussed on the FX35 with references to it having to be "REFLASHED" to correct the problem. Per those discussions, to make the matter worse, is that some of the repair technicians had no idea about it.......never heard of it.....and dismissed it. Any body know about it????????
