branders,
I need your update, as my 2009 Accord's front brakes are making a squealing noise when I depress the petal at a speed between 15 to 50 miles per hour. It started doing this at about 1000 miles guessing. Now with 4800 miles it continued to do squeal. I too put it off as a new car breaking in. It doesn't do it all the time but the frequency seems to be increasing in the warmer weather. So I decided to bring it in to be looked at. Of course it was raining the day I brought it in (it doesn't squeal in the rain) and they could find nothing wrong. They trimmed the edge of the rotors, (indicating there could have been something on the edge. Then they test drove it and said there was no noise. I asked if there were any service notices and he told me there was no notice out about issues on this issue, (your memo?). So I picked up the car and drove 4 miles home, and when I was at mile 3, SQUEAL!!!. Now the service tech was very nice and did say they would test drive with me it it happened again, and they would look into the issue, so I will be going back. Who is the TRS, and where can I get their contact info? Any help will be appreciated, as the noise is tearing at my sanity.
Thanks

2008 Honda Accord LX automatic Transmission Fluid by mazda6dude

I have a little over 30,000 miles on my 2008 accord. Even though the maintenance minder hasn't said to change the transmission fluid, I am thinking that I should get it changed just to keep the car in good condition and I drive a lot. What do you all think? Any feedback and advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

If it were a V6 engine, I would be more inclined to worry about the transmission. Even if it's a 4 cylinder, it can't hurt to change out 3 quarts, just to check the condition.. The condition of the drained fluid, and the amount of metal attached to the drain plug magnet, is a good indication of how frequent it should be changed in the future. If the fluid is dark, and the magnet is a ball of metal, it's time to worry.
PS: Use only Honda fluid

I think 30K is the usual time for a tranny service no matter if it's a 6 or a 4. A flush would be the best bet because it removes all the used fluid. Just had it done on my 97 Camry (160K mi.). The shop used a can of BG tranny flush, then did the service. Refilled with BG synthetic and conditioner. Along with that a can of BG 44K fuel system cleaner and some new plug wires boosted my highway mileage from 30 to 33.87mpg. I am thinking of using synthetic BG gear lube in my 08 LX 5 speed manual. I'm not a BG salesman, I just like their products.

Definetly change ALL the fluid! Using a synthetic is optimum, the current ATF breaks down with heat! BG synthetic works great! Plus they give you a $2000 Warranty change it before 36k then do it every 30k .no brainer and I work at a Honda Dlr

I think I will keep my 2005 EXL V6 by choppedntubbed

I test drove a 2009 EXL V6 yesterday, and I absolutely loved it. I am currently negotiating a final deal. In the interim, I read in detail the posts on the 2008 and 2009 Accord, and I am concerned to say the least. My biggest concerns are oil consumption, gas mileage and the braking issues that an awful lot of folks have commented on.

My '05 has been absolutely flawless, with the exception of a winshield creak that the dealer fixed back in December 2005.....I think I really need to reconsider getting a new one.

Remember, you're on a thread for repairs. There's not a "2008-2009 Accord Everything's Fine forum" so that all you read here makes it look worse than it really is.

My initial test drive of my 08 EX-L V6 Sedan back in Sept 07 left the same impression, I absolutely loved it and went on to purchase it. I can only offer my experiences regarding your 3 concerns. No squeaks or grinding from the brakes and a knowledgeable friend inspected them recently and felt I had about 50% life on the rear pads just under 20,000 miles. Front brakes weren't inspected as the rears seem to be subject to most of the negative comments. Sticker is spot on as far as fuel economy goes, 22 MPG overall for 20,000 miles. I've seen one tank a low of 17.5 mpg's and one a high of 32.16 mpg's many 28-31 on the hwy and many 19-21 city. I live in a hilly section of New England. The 2 oil changes that have been performed were both around 7,500 miles and in each case around 6,000 miles I had to add a quart. At nearly 5,000 miles since the last oil change it is down just a small amount on the dipstick, maybe a 1/2 a pint, nothing that requires any additions.

I don't regret the purchase and mostly the love is still there, just not in the absolute range.
