For me it was just the luck of the draw. I wanted a new vehicle last September after selling the 05 GMC PU. For some reason the GMC dealer was flying high and thought his cars were worth MSRP or close. The Toyota dealer wanted to unload the 07 Sequoias he had in stock. I had a little over $42k in cash I was ready to spend and got the most bang for my buck from Toyota. Could go the other way next time. Though I will only buy a diesel new from here on out. Or buy older and live with them. After owning two diesels and two gassers in the last 4 years there is no comparison. If I could just find the vehicle I like with a diesel engine. I hate our vehicle selection in the USA. More worthless models than anywhere on the planet. The automakers know how easy we are and stick it to US.

Envoy was really replaced by the new Yukon/Suburban. Sure they are bigger but Envoy just had little on them. MPG, etc.
Same with the Traverse. So why both?
Yukon/Suburban drive like trucks (but much better than the old ones) and the Traverse drives more like a car.
I guess the biggest reason for buying the Sub/Yukon is if you need real truck off road ness (contractors, etc.) and/or real large towing capability.
I see many of the families at my school replacing their suburbans with the Lambdas. Must be something good about them since they are everywhere. Just do not expect them to double your mpg from the Suburban. But you will never see the Sub's go away. There is still a market for them.

For '09 (the test was an '08), I believe ALL lambdas get the 288 hp version. Rumor had it that the Enclave would get the 5.3 V-8, but I think $4 gas took care of that. Good thing is, if it can fit the V-8, then it can fit the 4.5 Duramax.
I can't see why they would complain about the Enclaves fuel econ. when the Accord's wasn't much better.

It would be nice to see them bring back the Grand National, perhaps on the new Camaro chassis (heck, even with a blown 3.6 DI). I might even go for something like that.

Sure, and about the time it passed R&D, it would be just in time for another major hike in oil and therefore gasoline prices (LOL).

the average age of a Buick shopper last year was 55.2 years old
Buick shoppers might average out to 55, but the ones who actually sign on the dotted line are well into their 60s.

The engine might fit, but GM doesn't have an FWD tranny that can handle the torque.

Well, when Hertz, Avis, Rent-A-Wreck, etc buys a Buick, how do they get factored into the average buyer age?
Sorry, couldn't resist. And from what I've heard, Buick has actually been trying to get out of the habit of flooding the rental fleets.

"Well, when Hertz, Avis, Rent-A-Wreck, etc buys a Buick, how do they get factored into the average buyer age? "
Very good point. The sales are retail only so if the sedans are 1/2 fleet then that really changes my calcs but in the end the average buyer for Buick retail is still 55. Fleet sales of Buick is way down but surely who knows with what has been happening lately. Perhaps the rentals are not even buying now due to lack of credit?
