Long-Term Test: 2007 Toyota Tundra SR5 Double Cab - Starting with a 2007 Tundra SR5 double cab, we had two requirements: four-wheel drive and a V8. The big 5.7-liter V8. It's the most powerful, most capable, and is the closest match to our long-term Chevy Silverado's 6.0-liter mill. What it lacks in displacement, it makes up for in power: 381 horsepower and 401 pound-feet at only 3,600 rpm. Compare that to our Silverado, which kicks out 367 hp and only 375 lb-ft at 4,300 rpm. I do feel for your loss. But i can remember Firestone problem it was big. Also have had problems with goodyear & general.It could be any tire on any truck or car.I still can't see toyota was at fault.

Well I am one " Dad" that does his home work. Especially after loosing my one and only son.
 
Can you appreciate that he was far ahead ( on his own accord) as far as properties and the other positive things a baby boomer instills in his son. I can not of course speak for you or your circumstances (family or son's).
 
I do know though that an exact /similar accident happened recently in Iowa that a father of a young man hit a tree.and past away from his injuries while driving a Toyota 2997 SR5. Accoring to the police report the after market floor mat got stucvk under his foot. As a result the accident transpired and their father succumbed to injuries as a result.
 
Sooner or later Toyota will have to correct the bed vibration that all complain about, as well as the throttle pedal sticking.

Because 20,000 miles is so much? And 2007MY is so old. Try 250,000 miles. Model year 1999. Ford F-150 with a 4.6L (who the hell really needs a poorly made 5.7 with these gas prices?) and five speed stick (trucks should not have automatics). You can keep your big chrome grills and nice rims. Now, when, your cute lil' SR5 has over 200,000 miles and has done ACTUAL WORK then you can factually say its been a good WORK truck. Trucks these days. Should be more then good at running to Safeway or Stop & Shop.

The reason Chevy ride is superior to the Toyota is simple. Chevy has a better stronger frame. The Toyota frame has more flex, which translates to bounce and bumpy for riders. Notice how Toyota is re buying older trucks from owners due to chasis problems. They still have the same problems with their smaller trucks like the FJ Cruiser. The Tundra is great on looks, but it really cannot measure up to F150 in real world use. Just ask any fleet buyers.
 
Also, you can get a 403 HP six speed combination on the silvarado for 2009.
 
Consumers should also be aware that Toyota has a lot of paid posters that monitor these forums and ensure that its always viewed in positive light unlike GM, Chrysler and Ford.
 
Notice how some attacks on Ford lack objectivity.
Meanwhile, the F150 is not successful for being an inferior truck. Most people buy F150 due to its superior build quality.

All of you haters need to wake up. All of you know that the Japenese make better cars than anyone in the world. When they put there mind to it they can make a better car, truck, or sports car than anyone in the world. All of you are the same ol american knuckleheads that will always make excuses for why american cars are better until you die. Thats why Toyota is number one, how do you like that. Look at all the great Japenese cars: Tunda will out tow everything in its class, for years all americans would use for an excuses were, the tundra's not strong enough. Nissan GT-R will smoke just about anything in the world, especially for its price, Camry and Accord are unbeatable cars. Corolla is the number one selling cars of all time. Even European expensive cars aren't safe. Look at Lexus number 1. Hyundai Genesis is great for its price. I could go on and on. Look at the american cars: ford fusion and malibu please they suck. Mustang's continue to be only good in a straight line. Impala what a joke.

for you Toyota loving Americans, think about this prior to buying that next Toyyyata........
Us Americans will soon have to decide if we want a domertic automobile industry.
If we keep buying the Japaneess cars in five years we will only have them.
This foreign owned auto industry in the U.S. will be a Non-Union, largely southern, low wage industry. While all the high paying Engineering jobs, designers, tool maker jobs, salary position, profits, etc. go to Japan. Do you know who the Chief Engineer for the Tundra is?

GM once employed 100K employee in this country.
I for one hope to see my kids one day have an opportunity to work in high paying jobs and have a great life.
Yet we are mortgaging are future to buy today Topyooottta..

Look at what has happen to the British car industry. It no longer exist and we are headed in that direction
Have pride in the counrty you live in, buy american.....
Frankly:
I would Rather push my Ford F350 or pull my Chevy Silverado than mortgage my future to the devil...........

people are willing to spend their hard earned money on a product that isnt as good just to say can go to their local bar and say "i bought american".
 
america utilizes capitalism. competition is key in capitalism. toyota has a better product for the same price therefore people will buy toyota products. it has nothing to do with being patriotic its just how economies work. people buy the most for as little as possible. if ford wants to stay alive it needs to be competitive and offer better products.
 
mike. Britain is a third-world country now right? Thats how you're portraying it. They lost their car industry so now its a terrible place to live. If you look at british leylands they made terrible cars, which no one bought, and in turn that is why they no longer exist.
 
I have pride in my country's ability to provide the money i earn, and i have pride in spending it the way i feel is right, its called financial freedom. I'm not going to spend money on a bad product when i can buy something better for the same price. common sense.
 
Why push your ford or chevy when you can just walk? you'll save 30 grand.
 
as far as the tundra goes, seems like a great truck, i really like the interior, i mean it seems like its spread out too much but it looks really classy.

No, InsideLine, Toyota's Tundra doesn't have best-in-class payload. Nor fuel economy. Nor max tow rating. Ford's '09 F-150 does, as a proven fact. Oh, and InsideLine, explain to me please, why if the Tundra is just so much better that Ford's held the best selling truck title for 30+ years? Don't say its because the Tundra was just launched within the decade, because Toyota has been building trucks since the 70's and earlier. As bad as Ford truck sales are, Ford's still outselling Toyota's Tundra two to one. Then we've got the issue of durability and reliability. I'm not even gonna begin on the Tundra's issues. From tail gate problems, bed problems, and just the simple fact Toyota frames, engines, etc. Just not good enough.
