I just ordered a 2008 package #6, barcelona red, grey leather interior. It should be here next week. I'm wondering if I should buying any extended warranties? The Toyota Extra Care Platinum Plan? Of course, the salesman tried to scare me about blank screens and dead computers costing tons of money one day. What's your experience with your Priuses... any particularly expensive problems? If it were a regular Toyota, I probably wouldn't give extended warranties a second thought and go without the extra expense.

Replying to: olivelab (Oct 11, 2007 8:23 pm) I haven't had any problems yet (4 months so far) and I don't expect to. I passed on the warranty. In Canada they demand a lot more for it, and the one from Troy can't be used on a Canadian car. You can purchase the warranty any time during the three year period of the standard warranty. You can cancel it at any time and get back the "unused" portion of your payment. The 7 year extended platinum warranty gives you an extra 4 years, so about $250/yr. If you need the peace of mind, it's cheap. Toyotas are reliable, and the Prius is one of the most reliable Toyotas. |
