First Drive: 2009 Audi A4 - From the outset, it is clear that pictures are a poor indicator of the new A4's styling, making it appear similar to the model it replaces from certain angles and remarkably close to the new A5. But to call it derivative is to do it an injustice. (more)

I don't mean to say that the A4 should be a carbon copy of the bimmer but they can't just rely on the selling power of quattro. Now you also have to throw in the G35x and now you have an AWD car with a naturally aspirated V6 that undercuts the A4 by quite a bit on price. IMHO however the Audi is a much better looking car. I love audis new design especially with the exterior. The front lights are stunning and the huge grill works with the design and complements with the exterior design. It was mentioned that this new a4 looks like the all new a5 coupe. i dont find that a big deal since this new look is a look i can look at all day. good job audi

I've been looking at cars for a bit and had narrowed my options to an A4 and a TL-S. Strange that both are in the final year of current style. I had been leaning toward the Acura based in part on the additional interior space afforded by its width. My concern with the Acura was directing 280HP through the front axle. I'm also a bit nervous about the 2009 TL style based on the style of the new Accord. Now it seems the new A4 addresses those concerns. Beautiful car. Quattro. Mucho increase in interior space. Increase in MPG for the V-6. Any thoughts on how long after the 2009 initial intro it might take Audi to offer the 3.2 Quattro with a 6MT? ADM Now contemplating the merits of a close to MSRP for a new model year A4 over a fire sale price on a 2008 TL-S. I'm very excited! HOWEVER, I think having two A4s, one S4 and one RS4 is unnecessary. The A4 3.2 should be eliminated and the S4 3.0T should be put in its place. "S4" is too storied a name to simply kill off, but that would absolutely solve all of their market position problems with the A4 model line. My brother just traded his in... for a Porsche C2S! I'm jealous! However, this news has been widely reported, even going as far as more "formal" sites like AudiWorld.com. Or was it Fourtitude? Replying to: admead (Dec 31, 2007 7:55 am) It might interest you to know that I talked with the local audi dealer today and they informed me that MSRP on 2009 A4 might increase as much as $3000 over the 2008 model. I don't know how accurate that is because that sounds like a big increase. I think audi would be making a big mistake to raise the price so much. BMW might still make the "best" sport sedan, but the comptition is so close now that the most notable thing about a BMW is that it is guaranteed to cost way more than its competitors...a dangerous strategy I think. Replying to: gasser (Jan 15, 2008 5:47 pm) Interesting you bring up the price because I spoke with my sales rep here in Charlotte and they've indicated the price should be "comparable" to the current 2008 model. Now one person's definition of comparable could be a "$3K bump", which is close enough to the original price, but somehow I doubt they would under cut themselves by jumping that high in price considering: 1) sales of the A4 aren't that strong in the US, so why weaken demand by adding that kind of cost to it 2) their German counterparts (BMW) offer a twin turbo engine in their 335i for about that price when you factor in a $3K bump. MSRP for the A4 3.2 Quattro is $37,250, so when you add the $3K, you're right there with the 335i. Again, I could be wrong about the pricing, but my gut tells me that prices would go up marginally (maybe 2%- 3%) - not as high as $3K.
