First Drive: 2009 Audi A4 - From the outset, it is clear that pictures are a poor indicator of the new A4's styling, making it appear similar to the model it replaces from certain angles and remarkably close to the new A5. But to call it derivative is to do it an injustice. (more)

OMG, this is the most beautiful sexy car especially in white, more so than any 4 doors out there at the moment. The lines are modern and balanced without being outrageous or juvenile. We were going to wait for the 135i and decide between that and the 335i as the third car, but this is one beauty that needs serious consideration. Definitely needs at least 325hp to match the look especially when the bmw turbo six makes 300/300. I think i'll take a white with 18" 255 tires on the double spokes

I could have sworn that I read in either Car and Driver or Motor Trend that the new A4 is going to have the DSG transmission. Not that I would get it (I'm a manual guy), but has anyone heard anything to that effect? Also thought I read that they were limiting the pairing of the manual transmission to their 2.0T engine (at least on the initial roll out). Any truth to this? I personally think Audi hit a home run with the redesign (both inside and out), but the engine still remains a question mark. I'm a tad befuddled as to why they haven't boosted the performance on their 3.2 engine to compete with BMW's twin turbo in their 3 series. Replying to: bigpapaluke (Oct 23, 2007 8:48 am) The 3.2 V6 will make 265 hp. Audi's V8 makes 354 hp. I think it's more about market positioning. Audi doesn't want to have a V6 that takes aways business from the V8 cars. It would make the V8 S series far less appealing. 265hp from a normally aspirated 3.2 V6 is pretty good. Replying to: rjlaero (Oct 25, 2007 7:39 am) I don't disagree that a 265hp is still a great engine, and it's more than ample for the type of driving that I do. With that said, from a aspect of getting a good deal, some people may be willing to spend a couple thousand more (assuming prices remain the same) to get a comparably equiped Bimmer with the twin turbo engine. That's my only thought. I'm personally an Audi loyalist and feel you get more bang for the buck with their products. I just want to see them succeed in the US market because I think they build a great car. Do you happen to have any info regarding the transmission rollout? I don't think the twin clutch DSG will be put in the A4 to start, but Audi could change that. Only 3.2 V6's are avialable launch next fall.
