Replying to: pearl09escape (Nov 11, 2009 3:37 pm) my dealership is good about some things--for instance, acknowledging that there was a mechanical defect re the tranny seal. i'm thinking that if i make a big deal about the seats, maybe i can get them to do something. i'm going to copy your posting, see if i can get the service manager to look into this more deeply. good for you, getting results!

Just called my dealership - a memo went out on Nov 6 - they're replacing our stained, water-marked seat covers! Replying to: eamcconnell (Nov 19, 2009 12:54 pm) I just called my local dealership and asked about a November 6th memo regarding Ford replacing the fabric seats in the 2008 Escape. They knew nothing about it, and when entering the VIN for my Escape it showed no recalls or action to be taken. The only thing the rep did say is that if a memo is circulating, it may take a long time to become a legit recall. So, I'm skeptical that Ford has even done this. If you have a copy of the memo please fax it to 866-465-0388. I would love to show it to my local dealership. An updated seat cover is now available to reduce this specific type of staining. ACTION: Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition SERVICE PROCEDURE Inspect the seat cover stain for a white ring outline. If the white ring stain is present, then replace the seat cover with latest level part. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 501-10 Seating Disassembly and Assembly. NOTE: ONLY APPLIES TO STAINS WITH WHITE RING OUTLINE.
