Ok. Just to make sure I understand you correctly, let's say, for example, setting is programmed to flash once to UNLOCK. Vehicle is locked. I press key fob to unlock. It will flash once, but no further flashes no matter how many more times I press the unlock button on the key fob. But if the vehicle is unlocked (ie. never locked to begin with) then no flash at all when unlock button is pressed?

Thanks for your patience!!

lol, no problem...

The answer is No. If the setting is programmed to flash once for UNLOCK and no flash for LOCK every time you press the UNLOCK button or UNLOCK fob it will flash once and every time you press the LOCK it will no flash.

Auto lock when leaving the car? by bobsmith123

I love the convenience of the FAST key, it was one of the reasons I chose the Outlander. I have one issue that is obviously a problem with me and not with the system. I am so used to not having to do anything to unlock or start the car now that I forget to press the lock button when leaving the car. I have left it unlocked twice now. Is it possible to program the system to automatically lock the car when the FAST key goes out of range? If you turn off the ignition, then open the door and walk away with the key in your pocket it would be great to be able to have the car automatically lock the doors after 30 seconds or something.

There are options in the menu for auto relock and auto relock time, but after reading the manual I think that takes effect if you unlock the car by touching the handle or using the button on the key and then do not open any door within the time period.

Does anyone know if there is a FAST key out of range lock function?

The feature you're looking for is passive locking/arming. Some systems, and not necessarily keyless ignition systems, can do that. I know Honda's dealer-installed systems can be programmed for passive arming. I believe Infiniti's and Corvette's keyless systems will lock and arm automatically when you walk out of range. So the technology is there. You may want to ask your dealer, or contact Mitsubishi corporate, to ask whether you can do that for the Outlander.

Was it the phaserkb, who has already confirmed, that autolock function is in fact available: his post

Wasn't sure if phaserkb was referring to auto-relock (unlock but don't open any door), or auto-lock (park car, exit and walk away).

"unlock but don't open any door"

- if you are outside with the fob and you unlock, autolock could relock, as long as you are more then a couple of feet away

- if the fob is inside, it should not auto-relock under any surcubstances to avoid lockout...

"...as long as you are more then a couple of feet away"

If the auto-relock feature is a function of the distance between the car and the fob, then one would think that the system should be able to be programmed to auto-lock the way bobsmith would like it to.
