First Drive: 2009 Honda Fit - Inside the Fit's cabin, it's apparent that quality levels are up, with improved plastics, more supportive seats and a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel. Meanwhile, a new dashboard layout looks softer, reflecting a special effort by stylists to appeal to women. (more)
2009 Honda Fit Sport Full Test - Bottom Line: If only every sequel were so good. It's as if Honda used our long-term test blog about the 2007 Fit as a road map for the 2009 model's improvements. (more)

Open question - What colour have you ordered? I'm waiting the 09's to arrive so I can test drive (have driven the 08) and check out Orange Revolution. Besides the digital images (desktop pics) Honda put out, I haven't seen any photos/swatches!!

All other colors remain the same as 2008, except they've brought back "Taffeta White", which was available on the '07 model. |

The dealer (in Jackson TN) apparently received it Thursday and I stopped by yesterday to see when the 09s would be arriving. And there it was. The silver Fit Sport with navigation system. The MSRP (without shipping) was $18,760. I traded in my 2004 Civic Si for it. Very happy so far. I've run some errands, hauled some stuff from my office (folding up the rear seats), gotten more familiar with the navigation system and listened to my iPod touch through the USB adapter. They said Honda told them to expect only one or two over the next month or so. They had also received two 08 models that they expected would be gone today. |

I took today 2009 fit for a drive. Unfortunately the fit I drove was automatic. I was not impressed with the engine; it did not sound like smooth honda engine from the past. Perhaps manual transmission will help. I also drove 2008 civic LX manual and 2008 civic si 4 door. Among all these cars I liked the best lx. The engine was smooth and overall ride was so much nicer then fit. Si was nice but the engine needs to be kept in higher rpm range to produce power and two or three times I missed the gear beacause of a 6 speed pattern. The closing sound of door in fit was not bad for economy car.

It is quieter overall because, of course, it's a smaller engine and not of the high-rev variety but also because, I think, of Honda making the interior quieter overall. The handling is very smooth. The five-speed transmission works very smoothly. I haven't yet experimented with the paddle shifters. While driving I almost feel I must be in a minivan because of the incredible sense of interior space. Yet the overall handling is pure Honda. I filled up the tank yesterday and calculated just at 30 mpg. I'd done only a little Interstate driving up to that point and a lot of in-town stop and go driving. So, three days in, I'm still very satisfied and actually thinking of excuses to drive somewhere.
