What is this discussion about? Honda Fit, Hatchback

First Drive: 2009 Honda Fit - Inside the Fit's cabin, it's apparent that quality levels are up, with improved plastics, more supportive seats and a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel. Meanwhile, a new dashboard layout looks softer, reflecting a special effort by stylists to appeal to women. (more)

2009 Honda Fit Sport Full Test - Bottom Line: If only every sequel were so good. It's as if Honda used our long-term test blog about the 2007 Fit as a road map for the 2009 model's improvements. (more)

Here in Philadelphia, the Sales Manager maintains a list of people who have left deposits to ensure "first refusal" of the first incoming '09 models, FIT, Civic, or whatever.

I think I used the wrong term by calling that a "waiting list." However, we are on a list and we are waiting.

I could not agree with you more.....

My wife and I have made similiar inquires at our local Honda dealerships regarding the '09 Fit and we always receive one of two standard answers which is either; We have the 2009 Pilot in stock, would you like to look at that (you know because the two are so much alike) or we don't know which is also comforting.

NOT!

Just put a deposit on the 09 Fit Sport AT on Saturday. Dealer is placing his order this week and expects them in October. No firm pricing yet but is expected to be a littler over $17K.

That's good news!

I placed a deposit with a dealer last month, but he said he couldn't order them yet. Called back this afternoon...he said July 1 was the opening order date. No matter...October is on its way.

I really enjoyed reading about this car as I'm shopping and currently own a very 'worn out' honda accord from 2006. 244,000 miles and still going ....

So....does anyone know 4SURE if their will be a glass moon/sun roof option yet. I hear it's possible that this glass window will have a shade yet not open to the elements which is fine.

I really want a sky window though.....with a shade of course so I don't feel the greenhouse effect when I don't want to.

I'm 99% sure this will be my new car. 1% is based on that window....I really want one.

This is the problem with the "Global Village"...no one knows for sure which features will be exclusive to Japan and overseas and which will make it to North America. No one knows -for sure- whether options shown on Japanese models will NOT be in North American FIT's in the Fall. Despite what "sources high up at Honda" or even named sources may rumor, until the printed and/or fax'ed spec sheets start arriving in September...and the cars in October. (hopefully)

Bottom line: Don't count any option IN or OUT...except maybe the steering wheel on the right side of the car.

My understanding is that the Skyroof (Honda's name for the glass roof) will NOT be available for the North American Fit. At least, not initially when the new Fit is released this fall.

Hey guys, this is Fin from WA, and I'm a sales consultant at Honda/Toyota of Seattle, I was reading through this thread, and nobody's mentioned the trims and colors for the US Fit. I am a avid Fit lover, and reading through other forums, it seems like something leaked out, as the info for the 09 Fit is available.
Seems credible, as these are the same type of product numbers we use for the Honda line. Seems like you have to get Navi to get VSA though as I was hoping to get one with VSA but without Navi. Hope this info helps you guys make a decision on whether to get this great car or not!

I wonder whether the NAV/VSA bundle will become unbundled within a year or two, especially if the competition starts making the stability control standard in the way Hyundai is going these days. Since all passenger cars in the U.S. will be required to have the stability control by 2012, this unbundling will have to happen sooner or later. I just hope it's sooner!
