What is this discussion about? Honda Fit, Hatchback

First Drive: 2009 Honda Fit - Inside the Fit's cabin, it's apparent that quality levels are up, with improved plastics, more supportive seats and a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel. Meanwhile, a new dashboard layout looks softer, reflecting a special effort by stylists to appeal to women. (more)

2009 Honda Fit Sport Full Test - Bottom Line: If only every sequel were so good. It's as if Honda used our long-term test blog about the 2007 Fit as a road map for the 2009 model's improvements. (more)

You've _got_ to be kidding! You will not love it in the summer unless you live really far north. It is practically the perfect greenhouse. Audi's A3 is apparently losing the rear sunroof for this same reason--even with their roll-up shade, the cars got way too hot. The Audi dealer in Virginia recommended having the rear glass painted over, which is what many of his customers had done. And the new Fit's roof has way more glass.

Honda has gone to something that looks good, but is extremely impractical. I'm EXTREMELY disappointed that they followed in the footprints of Scion, Audi, etc. Hopefully the glass roof fad will quickly go the way of the SUV.

Honda, please give us a moonroof that will actually cool off the car on a summer day instead of roasting us to death.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I've read at least two or three articles indicating the "panaramic sunroof" was not going to be offered on the U.S. model for the exact reason you listed along with things like the rotating drivers seat.

Can you post a link to your source?

Thank you!

LOL Don't confuse "appeasement" with "disappearance" on the part of American automakers cutting back on SUV production.

A recent informal on-air survey on Philadelphia radio asked, "I have two sets of imaginary keys...one to a Hybrid and one to a Hummer. Which do you want?"

Mostly women called in...and a 55/45 majority of callers wanted the Hummer. When the Hybrid callers were asked why they wanted the small car, nearly all of them said, "Because I already have an (Explorer)(Tahoe)(Land Rover)(F-150)(etc)."

Very unscientific, but it indicates not everyone has their arms wrapped around bark.

Depends on who is paying for the gas...if it's me then I'll take the hybrid!

Wise choice, sir...coming from a Suburban & RidgeLine driver.

at the risk of getting off topic here it's not a really clear and even question
I have to figure that vehicle price factored into the decision as when most people thing "Hybrid" they think "smaller affordable sedan".
just looking simply at facts most Hybrids are between are in the $20,000 to $30,000 range. (http://www.edmunds.com/hybrid/index.html) where as Hummers, start at $30,000 for the H3, and upwards of $50,000 for the H2. Personally I'd get the Hummer and trade it in for 2 smaller cars. I'd be interested if they provided the numbers for a Toyota Highlander Hybrid vs H3, and asked people which they'd want.
Sorry I went overboard there, I studied Psychology in College.
Getting back on subject. With the hypothetical release in October I'm guessing the next time we'll get useful information from Honda will be around September? It's still a bit off but I can't wait for an official list of prices and features / options. We have a pretty decent unofficial idea now, but I'd like the speculation to be put to rest.

Interesting angle. I didn't even think to take price into consideration.

I, for one, am anxious for the '09 FIT in October...but the dealer's waiting list continues to grow.

'...but the dealer's waiting list continues to grow'

I live in upstate NY. Not too far from NYC. I've called two Honda dealers in the area and neither had a waiting list. They seemed to know less about the car than I did. They took my name and phone # and said they would call me when they got information on the car.

These were sales people I was transferred to when I called the dealership and inquired about the 09 Fit. I'm wondering if people who are on a waiting list are going into the dealerships, or speaking to a manager and not a salesperson? Thanks.
