Function improvements are good but not complete. Looks on the outside have devolved to the GODZILLA TRANSFORMER look, both front and back, way to bug like. Roof line is too rounded, although more aerodynamic it looks like one of those really expensive golf carts. This is a common problem with all mfg's that evolve their newer models to the original volkwagen beetle look, the "turtle car". Signature looks are sacrificed for performance. Maybe some day they with receive a serandiptious thought "WOW lets ask those who purchased earlier models about what improvements they would like to see." Instead of the getting lost in their own imagination. No thanks! I'll pass on this one. Replying to: protrack (May 25, 2008 8:41 am) If you look at the dimensions of the new Fit, it almost exactly splits the difference between the 3rd and 4th gen Civic Wagons. And yet even though it is 2 and 3 inches taller than both of those respectively, it has much less of an upright, greenhouse look due to its higher, upswept beltline, and a roofline that tapers down at the rear. I think the Honda designers have done a really amazing job of putting a modern spin on efficient packaging. As for the new dash design, well, I'll reserve judgment until I see it in person, but in the photos it looks a bit too stylized for my tastes. However, so long as everything is functional enough, I can tolerate the artsy new layout. After all, this is not a car I would consider representative of my personal tastes in automotive design, but rather as a functional, yet fun-to-drive, automotive appliance. Replying to: toronado455 (May 28, 2008 11:18 pm) The new version looks better inside than my '07 (a little bigger rear seat, more cupholders, better headrests, telescoping steering wheel) but not enough for me to sell my '07. My Fit is paid off, and if I sold it to buy the next generation Fit, I'd probably be out by at least $5000 and the extra benefits of the next generation Fit aren't worth it to me.

The answer to that question may relate to the stalled-in-the-FCC XM/Sirius merger. The FCC may impose such draconian restrictions on the resulting company that the satellite service will be DOA in the '09 FIT. In addition, there's no XM/Sirius in Japan, so interior pictures of the NAV or radios won't show the XM logo if they're in an Asian version. Audi's A3 is apparently losing the rear sunroof for this same reason--even with their roll-up shade, the cars got way too hot. The Audi dealer in Virginia recommended having the rear glass painted over, which is what many of his customers had done. And the new Fit's roof has way more glass. Honda has gone to something that looks good, but is extremely impractical. I'm EXTREMELY disappointed that they followed in the footprints of Scion, Audi, etc. Hopefully the glass roof fad will quickly go the way of the SUV. Honda, please give us a moonroof that will actually cool off the car on a summer day instead of roasting us to death.
