The US will not get a seat height adjustment, but we will get a spare tire. This was all announced by Honda a while back by their head honcho. I can't recall if we will get the optional sunroof, or the tilt/telescoping steering wheel. But the Japanese market gets lots of cool stuff we will never see here like the new Mitsubishi Ralliart Colt, similar to a Fit in looks but with 154HP! We sadly don't get those cars here. I read and hear a lot of what the FIT has in Japan, but I've yet to read/hear any of these so-called "official announcements" from Honda-America for the NA FIT. Meanwhile, I'm negotiating with my local school district to buy natural gas for my Honda GX until I get Phill inStalled in my garage. On the West Coast, Phill is free.

The options/standard features will likely be very different from the base '09 model. The US Sport version will be closer to the Japanese version, though not nearly as tricked as the RS there. However, adjustable driver's-seat height, a glass roof, and the bigger sunroof are not off the table for the Fall in the US. Trust me.

Thing is though, that article was written by a contributor in Japan in Sept, 2007 prior to the debut/unveiling of the US 2009 Fit at the New York Auto Show in March this year. The 153.5 inch overall length he mentions is shorter than even the current US Fit. So obviously that is a JDM spec. So my guess is that the length and weight specs mentioned in the article pertain only to the new JDM Fit, not the US 2009 Fit. (The width and wheelbase specs would apply to both JDM and US cars.) In other words, I think he is comparing the old JDM Fit to the new JDM Fit. Replying to: muchocats (May 07, 2008 1:26 pm) I hear ya' and agree, moochocatz... I'm 6'0" and the FIT, like the Beetle, has a 'disappearing hood' even for my height. Those little pump-up levers add hardly anything to the design/mfg/price of a driver's seat...so why take them out of a North American version?? Certainly not to save money.
