First Drive: 2009 Honda Fit - Inside the Fit's cabin, it's apparent that quality levels are up, with improved plastics, more supportive seats and a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel. Meanwhile, a new dashboard layout looks softer, reflecting a special effort by stylists to appeal to women. (more)
2009 Honda Fit Sport Full Test - Bottom Line: If only every sequel were so good. It's as if Honda used our long-term test blog about the 2007 Fit as a road map for the 2009 model's improvements. (more)

Actually, what Oz wrote doesn't, for most parts, jive with the JDM specs, either. There are tons of options available for the JDM Fit. By the way, in Japan, the Magic Seat has always been called the "ULTR Seat" (sic), and with the new (current) generation, they have added the "ULTR Luggage" by eliminating the spare tire, which will not be the case for the NA Fit.

Replying to: jacksan1 (May 01, 2008 7:03 am) Does this mean the new US '09 Fit will have a spare tire because I was under the impression from the auto show unvelings that it didn't which ticked a lot of people off and I wanted to know if you've heard one way or the other for sure? Thanks! |

(Not sure where that icon came from, but I hope someone gets that abandoned car out of my driveway!) |

Transmission choices for the new Fit include a five-speed automatic, a five-speed manual and a CVT automatic." and... "The Sport model is the range-topping trim level and boasts a long list of standard features, including a navigation system, 6.5-inch screen, USB connectivity, and steering-wheel mounted paddle shifters." ...my emphasis.

Replying to: thegreatoz (May 07, 2008 5:17 am) Just remember that that is ONLY for the Japanese market. The US will not get a seat height adjustment, but we will get a spare tire. This was all announced by Honda a while back by their head honcho. I can't recall if we will get the optional sunroof, or the tilt/telescoping steering wheel. But the Japanese market gets lots of cool stuff we will never see here like the new Mitsubishi Ralliart Colt, similar to a Fit in looks but with 154HP! We sadly don't get those cars here.

I read and hear a lot of what the FIT has in Japan, but I've yet to read/hear any of these so-called "official announcements" from Honda-America for the NA FIT. Meanwhile, I'm negotiating with my local school district to buy natural gas for my Honda GX until I get Phill inStalled in my garage. On the West Coast, Phill is free. |
