What is this discussion about? Honda Fit, Hatchback

First Drive: 2009 Honda Fit - Inside the Fit's cabin, it's apparent that quality levels are up, with improved plastics, more supportive seats and a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel. Meanwhile, a new dashboard layout looks softer, reflecting a special effort by stylists to appeal to women. (more)

2009 Honda Fit Sport Full Test - Bottom Line: If only every sequel were so good. It's as if Honda used our long-term test blog about the 2007 Fit as a road map for the 2009 model's improvements. (more)

southpaw,

Thanks for that link. Those JDM colors were on Autoblog's gallery, but it is nicer to see them on the JDM page - for some reason they look better, clearer. Perhaps it's the blue gradient background.

Is "Cool Rose" the light pink color? I agree, that probably won't make it here, but you never know... There could be a new Mary Kay car very soon.

Could you translate the color that is like a pale cream (almost white) - it is the upper right square on the JDM color selection page just above the pink color?

widetrack,

I hope that the lack of White being available on the 08 will increase the odds of its return for 09.

Turn signals on mirrors by toronado455

I noticed that the JDM version gets turn signals integrated into the outside rearview mirrors but the USDM version omits those.

Yeah 'Cool Rose' is the light pink color. As for that white color it's called 'Premium White Pearl'. It looks kind of off-white, or almost like a bone color. The other white is called 'Tafta White'. Interesting to note it has an extra turn signal built into the side of the car, rather than on the side mirror. Unfortunately, the US model lacks these features all together as was mentioned above.

I noticed this too, and I was wondering if I couldn't just import a set from Japan and have them installed. I've seen other cars equipped with LED turn signal side mirrors, so it's not some weird US traffic code violation or anything like that. It seems like a great idea to me, especially in heavy traffic where you wouldn't be able to see the back of a car because it's obscured by he car in front of you.

The thing that kills me the most is that in the age of the internet car companies don't think we'll notice these things. Nor do they care.

Let's keep each other posted about LED turn signal side mirrors for the new Fits. I've already scoured Ebay and only turned up generic ones at best. They've got to be out there somewhere.

As I mentioned before the only year white was a color option was 2007 and that was Tafta white and as southpaw mentioned the white offered on the '09 model almost looks like a cross between white and cream so I hope the new one really is a true white!

CNET's Brian Cooley actually used the term "40ish" to describe the 2009 Fit MPG. So I guess he's being optimistic as well.

First reviewer I've heard to use the correct term "cab forward" to sum up the new design.

So what guesses can we make about the differences between the base and sport for the 09?

We don't have to guess at some things. The Sport AT will get the paddle shifters, and the Sport gets larger (16") alloy wheels vs. 15" steelies on the base. Other things I expect to see on the Sport over the base are different interior fabric, ground effects of some sort, and cruise control (although I really wish cruise would be on the base also).
