And I replied that I don't think the Kia offer is better than the unlimited mileage lifetime powertrain offered by Chrysler.

The powertrain is quiet and unobtrusive.

I have the 4.0L engine in my Town & Country Limited. It's the noisiest and most coarse sounding engine I have ever heard in a van. Maybe my old Ford Windstar was comparable. It also vibrates annoyingly at each stop. Especially at starting the van. It's unacceptable!!

Suggestion to Chrysler: You need a new QUIET refined engine, with better NVH, better mileage, better power, so it should be comparable to the rest of the minivan players - Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Hyundai, etc. And you need it NOW! And you should offer it across the board, for ALL models, not only Limited - the same all other minivans offer!!!!

The power tailgate is standard on the Sienna XLE, which, if optioned correctly, can be bought for under $30K.

For 2009, Honda has added the power tailgate to Odyssey EX-L models, which, once again, if optioned correctly, can also be had for under $30K.

The Sienna and Odyssey aren't static targets; they're moving windows. Both are up for redesign soon... The GC may be able to compete with the current Sienna and Odyssey, but whether or not the GC can compete with the next generation of both vans is another story...

I would be hesitant to get into a Grand Caravan right now with Chrysler on the ropes... Then again, since they are on the ropes, the deals are very attractive...

Hondas Transmission WILL FAIL!!! by dvsutton

If you're considering a Honda Odyssey I want you to know this, My wifes Honda Odyssey has been through two transmission rebuilds, replaced the rotors twice, the dash rattles like marbles are in it, the sliding door fell off its track onto my sons foot, the seat heaters have been replaced and the DVD player skips over bumps. I'm not the only Honda owner with these problems. The Honda dealership is full of owners sitting in the "waiting" room with me. None of us will buy another Honda badged product ever again. Just food for thought if you're considering a Honda. BEWARE OF THE HONDA TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS!!!

Is the Odyssey a 1999-2004 model? You seem to dislike Toyota and Honda, so I'm assuming your next vehicles will be GM, Ford, or Chrysler. If so, good luck and hope in 10 years you can still buy parts.

Back in late 2001, my 'good ole American cash' went to Toyota for a 2002 Tundra. Oh, and it was built in Indiana and I've never any issues with it, other than an occasional oxygen sensor.

It will be a American brand vehicle. I'm tired of warranty issues, dealing with incompetence at Toyota/Honda dealers and the monkeys they hire to "band aid" the fix. GM, Ford, and Chrysler will be around in some way for longer than that. If the quality of the Japanese is anything like the ones I have the displeasure of owning, Toyota and Honda should be having major recalls in the near future. Whoops, I mean service bullitens in Japan speak. As for the Tundra. I can't comment on your 02, but my son, against my wishes, bought a 08 Tundra.. Camshaft broke. Rotors had to be replaced. Universals out of balance. All were recalls in the first six months of ownership. The truck was out of his hands for almost two months during the first year he has owned it. Now he is trying to sell it but it isn't worth anything. Everyone around here knows of the Tundra's issues and won't buy it. We are thinking of donating it. Or use it as a boat anchor.

hmmmmm - I'm sure my views will contrast greatly with mr. sutton, and the link you provided means I'll bite my lip and move on. It has presumbably saved me time.

All I will say is I've been a ford and gm guy for a long, long time, as was my father. However, life doesn't exist in a vacuum and the changes, both good and bad, in the auto industry over the past many years has been significant. If you can't recognize, acknowledge, and accept them, and are blinded by bias, I can offer nothing to mr. sutton.

If you really were a longtime GM guy then you wouldn't even consider a Toyota. So i would say you are the Bias one.

You got be to kidding.

I've driven GM for the last 25 years, but now have a Ford Taurus and Honda Odyssey in my garage. Love both of them.

The General just didn't have what I wanted when I was shopping last. Their minivans are lousy and their new CUV's are overpriced and too small for what I need. The Taurus was bigger, safer, quieter and better built than the Impala I compared it with.

Just because I was a GM guy didn't mean I had blinders on my eyes.
